Hi all what have people got as a toad?
Im a bit stuck I really wanted a Smart Fortwo because I want an auto and a cabriole, but I’ve been told they don’t tow very well to the point that some companies won’t fit an A frame to the, so who has A Smart Fortwo and how do you find them? I know you can get an auto, large canvas roof 108, C1, aygo but their not what I real want the other one I quit like is the Toyota IQ but it’s going to have to be a manual again and no cabriolet and if that’s the case then there’s an UP or a LUPO and so on.

So what’s everyone got and what do you think of them?

Thanks

Hyundai i20…… big enough to use other than as a city car

My son now has his second Smart for Two car which he has toad for several thousand miles behind his Chausson Welcome. The first one was a cabriolet.
He had the toad frame fitted by a firm somewhere near Chichester by an ex Smart car mechanic.

Had a Peugeot 107 it towed well and a useful size , I now tow a Kia Rio 3 which is better for space and tows well.
Both manual btw.

We used to have a 2016 Smart for two cabriolet. it towed perfectly well. You just have to make sure it’s in neutral. We don’t tow now and prefer a 200 cc scooter. Just try before you buy, they have really hard suspension.

Toyota Aygo for us. Manual. Very light, very underpowered, very cheap to run, excellent little two car.

Hyundai i10 5 door

Big enough to carry 4 adults reasonably comfortably, and the A-frame fits in the boot.

It’s nippy enough round town, but occasionally needs to drop a gear on long hills in Devon/Cornwall

Kia Picanto - because 5 door, and I can get 3 dogs in (one on back seat, two in the back).

Citroen C1 - does the job - nothing to rave about - clutch pedal too high!

A five door Picanto. Toes very well.
