We are going to upgrade our motorhome and it’s a minefield husband likes Bessacar I like Burstner 2011 any help would be appreciated

Actually an impossible question to answer as there are two of you, two sets of requirements and everyone views everything differently!

There’s currently a very nice Deflef in the classified section. Not a Brit van I know but nevertheless a fine example.
PS. I have no connection to the seller.

If the layout is the same then surely it's about the look of the thing, inside and out. Colour scheme, materials, design. Mechanically they'll be the same (assuming both Fiat). Burstner did have a good reputation (I say did as I have a 2021 model and I'm not impressed with the build quality - I've had a lot of issues) A 2011 one maybe better.

If they are both the same layout.
And there is no difference in payload.
Then I'd be looking at the quality of the build and the interior fittings.

If, for any given year, all things being equal, that one costs more than the other, I'd go for the more expensive one.

On the basis that it is seen as the better vehicle. Which means it will hold it's value better, and chances are things like spares may be easier to obtain, and maybe a bigger owners group.

Remember if the vehicle is 2011, then you have the ability to go to a company like Regal, who for a few quid, will replace all the curtains, cushion covers, seat covers, matrasses, floor covering and even recover the front seats. So you can have any colour scheme/materiel that you want.

It sounds terrible, but 40k is not alot in the motorhome world. What van do you have? What don't you like about it? What is the reason you want to update? Can you sort yours out for less? We are in the same situation and looking at how to improve ours.

You can get a cracking good motorhome for £40K.

A lot of people say layout, layout, layout but that is no good if the MH is a damp piece of rotting plywood.

MH's are pretty well a compromise almost by definition, I always like U shaped rear lounges but have had to forgo that on the latest MH as we need two separate sleeping areas for our granddaughter and also plenty of garage space.

I think it all depends on the condition of the vans. There is no make that's immune from possible problems no matter what make you choose.

"For a few quid"...................??
Think that's very optimistic.
A few hundred more like.
Nice job though.

The jerry built vans seem very good at resisting damp problems, had 3 now and they have all been tinder dry.

Back in the day they were. Heard of a lot of damp issues with recently built Burstners - including my own.

If your willing to go older but supper quality look at niessmann Flair Arto or early concord ours is now over 20 years old still love it,if your willing to have left hand drive look at the German adds.👍

I am still in the day and so will the OP be with a budget of £40K.

I did find a couple of pieces of wood in the Arto the other day, they were little fore and aft sections under the dash.

The furniture is wood and that is about it as far as I can see. Dry as a bone in the Arizona desert.
