We have a variant and it gets put in the van when go away. I mean, why slum it when it comes to coffee? 😉

Hi Ian
I'm keen to hear your views of it

Perhaps my use of the term ‘variant’ wasn’t quite right; it’s not a Delonghi we have.

In terms of ‘bean to cup’, once you’ve tried them, you won’t go back to any other method unless you have to.

I like good old instant coffee, can't be doing with all the messing around, and as well as jar coffee I like the stuff you get in sachets in various flavours/types and at £1 for 10 or 12 (depending on type) or one favourite at 7p a sachet what's not to like. Easy to make and if you want a bit more creaminess stick in a drop of milk or cream.

We added a Pixie earlier this year, super compact and was on special offer so i'm told:unsure:

These are about the smallest form of Nespresso machines available and should fit neatly into most places.

We also take an Aeroccino with us to make the milky coffee varieties most of us seem to prefer.

Our Hymer came with a pull down counter levered shelf to house a Nespresso machine. We use a Pixi and we really like it particularly as we both like different types of coffee as well the option of different to mornings and evenings. Krupps will be the same machine as somebody said earlier.

These are great espresso machines save a capsule and save the planet (I know I will get flamed for this)

The Guy who invented the capsule machine, now regrets having done so as it is just something else like plastic bags using a resource that doesn't need to be used.

Just buy loose coffee and either of the above and make yourself a great cup of coffee, or if you really really want that expresso when you are away why not buy a proper espresso machine. A budget machine such as the Gaggia Classic or splash out on a Rocket.

You may not be able to display your machine behind sliding glass doors but if you are environmentally conscious save a capsule and just use loose coffee (its cheaper too).
Not the same now. Our Lavazza machine uses compostable capsules which go out with the compostable kitchen waste that our council collect every week. All wrapped in a compostable bag made from corn starch, not plastic.

Having said that I use a Mocha pot (see post #9) when we are in the motorhome. Still use Lavazza coffee in it, as got to like it a few years ago when we took the motorhome to Italy.

Morrison’s ground coffee, various varieties inc decaf instead. On offer £1.25

When we had our Carthago it was a Nespresso coffee machine it came supplied with which fitted into its own dedicated pull down cupboard.

We love nice coffee and can’t stand instant, so we loved the machine and we used to buy Lidl’s own brand of comparable coffee pods, which come in a pack of 10. Honestly despite being so much cheaper than Nespressos own brand, the taste of Lidl’s coffee is excellent and if you are a coffee fan like we are then you’ll be sure to find a flavour that suits your tastebuds.

We sadly had to sell our big A Class Carthago due to my husband losing the C1 part of his licence after having a few health issues and we now have a Hobby caravan. Love the caravan as it’s big and homely but a totally different camping experience altogether to the motorhome but at least we are still able to travel around and enjoy music festivals and other outdoor events we like to attend - so that’s the main thing isn’t it?

Anyway, we have a little Tassimo coffee machine in the caravan, which again is a great little machine but unfortunately we have to buy the genuine Tassimo pods for that as there are no cheap comparable alternative pods available for it but if I was buying another machine, I think we would opt for a Nespresso every time.

Hope this helps anyone thinking about buying one for their vehicle?

Happy Tuesday

I still use the funnel type thing (£8) that you fit over the top of the large mug, or Pyrex Jug, in which one put's a filter paper.
Add coffee and boiling water.
When drained, it's easy to dispose of, nature friendly paper filter and grounds in rubbish bin. Simples!

Lavazza here too. Really good coffee for a capsule and compostable. Caffeine hit and save the planet in one cup.

Can't be bad, Lavazza is what they use in Wetherspoons! :giggle:

I was wondering if anyone knew which model Krupps coffee machine Carthago supply as standard with a Chiq C-Line? Most seem too big to fit in the slidy thing.
I installed a Nespresso virtuoso. This model was identical to that supplied by Carthago. Carthago charging about £250 bought ours for about £70 from John Lewis. If you go down the line if putting in said machine you will probably find that the socket high up in the back is still continental socket as it’s near impossible to get your arm up to change to uk set up. Simply just use a continual converter plug then plug in machine

Better still put a continental plug on the flex. Many adaptor plugs have low watt limits and the electrical draw of a coffee machine might cause overheating and potentially a fire.

I'll stick with my drawer!

Hymer provided a handy rail to bungee my Dolce Gusto machine to :giggle:
