As others have said it to hold a bottle of something alcoholic and some glasses to drink it with. Some really posh motorhomes (Carthago & N&B for example) were supplied with engraved glasses to fit in the smaller holes, but not sure if Laika did that.

I would advise your friends to follow the advice of BreweryDave . As his forum name suggests he and his wife Jackie are the experts in that sort of thing.

So after Laika told my friends by email that it was for a bottle and glasses and they found a bottle of Grappa that looks like it would fit ? They have found it in a brochure https://issuu.com/abobil.no/docs/laika_catalog_english_2011/4 page 47 and it is actually for spices ?.
