What has happened to Brittany Ferries Club Voyage scheme?

Absolutely, and guess what the last time we used BF we were front left outside almost and yes totally covered in salt and sand, this shouldn’t happen at £700 a ticket and what does it say about the design of the ship.
It's not just the new ferries on cap finestere we were often outside.

So in future which is the best way to travel to Spain Chunnel? Ferry to Calais, orAnother short ferry to somewhere in France or stick Santander with BF ?

The new Chinese built ships are not a patch on the vessels they have replaced, no entertainment, or cinema. Just jam as many paying passengers as possible on the ship. Plus it is now a two night voyage and not one as it used to be, and you stand a good chance of the MoHo being stored on the aft outside deck, getting covered in salt spray. And if you are unlucky and get a cabin over the doors that go to the dog walking and smoking deck you will be kept awake all night as the door closing mechanism has broken already so they just slam, very loudly right under your cabin. It is like Ryanair on sea, cattle class.

So I was booking a return ferry for next week, Portsmouth to Santander standard M/H (<8m+bike rack) with the cheapest cabin both ways on the Galicia, I put in a friend's code and got offered a £100 discount (woopie doo) which gave a price of approx £1095 return! I then checked out the C&MHC site and got the same boat, same cabin, same everything for £1054. Still expensive but a bit cheaper. I will be sticking to DFDS Newhaven- Dieppe route and driving down in future. Even with todays Deisel prices it's still cheaper!
Have you factored in wear & tear and tolls ?

We came out to Spain on Pont Aven. We wanted to show family an how nice it can be.

Luckily, Pont Aven did not break down and they had the buffet on in the al a carte restaurant.

We had a corner balcony cabin, one of just two. Very nice but not worth the cost in high season for a one night crossing.

We had a really stroppy French woman at the restaurant trying to charge us for something we were not supposed to pay for. In the end she lost her temper, ripped up the bill and said “suppose we give you everything for free”. Not impressed by that !

Sea state was severe 9. But they had sailed to Norway with us 15 years ago.

When we return, we have to use the Santander - Portsmouth route. So Galicia.

As I’ve mentioned, we still get 30% off crossings (not cabins).

But I am considering alternative routes as we don’t like the Chinese vessels or the 2 night crossing.

We mix between car/van/motorhome. So when in my van or a car, Eurotunnel is not good for us. It’s a real trek getting to Folkestone. Then needing hotels, French tolls etc. that and we don’t have the time to meander in the motorhome through France.

I’ve booked to come to our house in our motorhome on the next road trip with our grandchildren. Just to save on hotels and the ease of travel. We have a car in Spain and will use that locally.

But one option I am looking at is newhaven - Dieppe and making a hotel stop for one / two nights. I’ve found some cracking hotel stops en-route through Spain

If it was a case of driving there in a car or m/bike, it would be a no brainer. Santander every time.
But, hang on, we've got motorhomes.
We carry our ability to cook, sleep and relax in relative comfort, certainly just as comfy as on a ship sailing through Biscay.

Sure there are restrictions on decisions but, with BF now taking two nights to get to Spain, that choice is blurred. It's now no quicker on the ship really.

Look, I've been on the Galicia but, in these straightened times, we've decided to go via Caen. It's a smame we can't do Plymouth but you can't win them all.

That's OK,I still get the original discount as I have been a member for years,,BUSBY.
Hello, please pardon me appearing 'out of the blue'. I'd like to ask you something about BF which would probably be more appropriate in a private message. As I'm new here, I have no idea how to PM or if it's possible. If you would care to spare me 2 minutes my email is adriana.dowling@gmail.com. Thank you for your time.

You need to be a paid up member to PM.
You really don't want to put you email address on a public forum as the spy bots will pick it up & you will get loads of spam.

Thanks for answering (mailbox already spammed but filtered ;-) )
I was trying to be polite and hopefully a little less blatant than many.
I've been searching for a friendly soul with an available BF Club voyage quota.
I only get the ferry once a year for my grandaughter's birthday in December so it's not worth subscribing myself.
I'll be travelling Le Havre Portsmouth on 7/12 and back on the 11th.
If any one can share I would really appreciate it. (you've got the email :-) )
