Autotrail Mohawk fresh water tank drain. Went to turn tap back off ready to fill it for the weekend out and tap was so stiff it turned pipe underneath and pipe and tap came out in one. Obviously need new tap but what holds it in the other end. It appears to be a 25mm reducer on the 28mm pipe but I can only see flexible outlet on tank not a solid as far as i can see without grovelling underneath. Anyone any suggestions to save an 84 year old from going underneath to investigate ??? I did refit it yesterday with silicone seal but it came adrift this morning again.

From your description it's hard to tell wha ytou have done and a photo will help. If you have pulled the pipe out ofthe tank then you really need to get inside it to fix it

Mine is like that it's just a push fit I think.

Op has difficulty getting under motorhome and there you are suggesting he gets inside his fresh water tank, what are you like? :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Nicked photo from an old post of Two on Tour hope its not copyright

Is there a circlip on the ground under your van? I suspect that there will be a flange on the tank to which you push fit the pipe with circlip to hood in place. If not you can purchase rubber end seals that fit on your pipe end and then push the pipe and seal onto flange, these are very good at holding fast.

It's relatively easy to take a photo .you don't need to get under the van to do that. (y)
Regarding getting into the tank I obviously didn't mean his whole self. But if he has pulled out the connection from the tank he may need a long arm to get inside the tank..
As said a photo would help.

Yes thats the set up on my van. Looking at the tank end of the photo there could be a rubber sleeve over corrugated pipe to allow rigid fitting.
Chucking it down with rain just now but will try and get a closer up photo later if it eases up but I think it's a rubber inline joint that fits inside a corrugated pipe and over the rigid pipe.

Anyone needing to fix anything plastic in water try 'Sticks Like Shit' - it really does !

When mine started leaking from the joint at the tank I couldn't see what type of fitting due to the tank having an insulation cover and as I was away wasn't about to remove it to look, as luck would have it I just pushed the pipe back in and it's been ok ever since., that's why I assumed it was a push fit I will be interested in what you can see on yours Grant.

Might be a while, Dane, as the rain ain't looking like going off any time soon!:crying:

OK, rain abated for 5 minutes. Best I can do given the conditions. Hope it helps.
ps now looks like it's plastic and not rubber!

Think this might be it. https://rebel-leisure.co.uk/product...e-pipe-reducer-1?_pos=21&_sid=881130441&_ss=r

This might do for the drain tap if you need to replace. https://rebel-leisure.co.uk/product...pos=1&_psq=fresh+water+drain+tap&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Thanks very much to all for your help. Fitted a push on sleeve that I had from my caravanning days which was 28mm. Pipe now fits snugly in. can't see logic of putting a smooth pipe in a convoluted hose which was on there without sealer.
Anyway I am well pleased and appreciate all help you have given me.

Wonder if there was originally a reducer connector there, got lost and incorrectly refitted?

Or just originally incorrectly installed?
