What a piece of craftsmanship…..

I have never sat in anything so uncomfortable in all my life I wouldn’t have a defender given, no leg room at all, so cramped it’s unbelievable, 6 foot 3 and a bit I am, I was sat like the hunchback of Notre Dame. Knees almost in my face.

I’ll give it a miss thankyou without even seeing it.

They say 70% of Land Rovers ever made are still on the road.
The rest made it home.

(I currently own 2 of Solihull's finest products, as does my eldest offspring).
Most of the older ones I have come across are like my yard broom, still going strong after 25 years of abuse. It has only had 4 new handles and 8 new heads.

Yep.
The great thing with an older Land Rover is that you can fix them at the side of the road with a hammer and an adjustable wrench.
The bad thing is, you regularly need to fix them at the side of the road with a hammer and an adjustable wrench.

Have you counted the number of frames needed to support their wonderful metal skin?

The DC-3 was constructed more simply 90 years ago.

I was quite interested at first.
Then saw it .
Looks shite imo.
The only Landy i ever had was a 2 1/4 lightweight which i fitted a 3 litre v6 Essex into .
Was a cracking conversion.
As for the price of that abomination, nahhhh. Rip off

And it stiil wont go .

Land Rovers appear to be far more reliable than many of the modern delicate plastic things on here. 186 thou on my first one and 121 thou miles on this one. Mind is now worth more money than when it was new, or my Moho. Driving and growing in value. Don’t get that with many things.

I prefer these much more practical and cheaper.

If I had another van I'd get Wissel to make me one of these!
Errr no, that's a big fat DON'T
Big problems with them, I still have my toes dipped in the vw world and owners are not happy

Are they unreliable? Is it just the new ones or older VWs too?

If you want to go out into the outback go in a land rover.

If you want to get back from the outback get a land cruiser...

Apparently land cruiser are the most common weapon carrier in most wars ...

They are in a constant state of renovation and oil change! However the image of a club member attending the Stoneleigh 4x4 show a number of years ago was a priceless image and will forever be in my memory. His BMW X5 tug en route went into limp mode!! The image of his high tech BMW being towed on the LR trailer into our section by his Series 2a is now legendary!

I actually used to go into the outback in Western Australia and recover Landcruisers amongst others , vehicle used was a Defender 130DCHCPU with triaxle trailer. Legally a landcruiser in Australia didnt have the GTW to tow in another . :)

I don't like it

Its fugly

Ho lee crap! You’d have to be seriously wired up wrong to pay £350k+ for that! o_O
I don’t even like it but wow! (n) Nuts.

I wouldn't want one. One thing I know about a lifetime of owning and driving Lanny's is raising the CoG too high, always ends in tears.

Agreed. I love the looks of a forward control LR conversion, hate to think what they are like to drive and keep running.

The military models are not very long distance friendly in the cab , and really hurt your knee till you learn the special way to get in :) The earlier civi FC models are quite reasonable in the cab and the 6cyl models will cruise at 50/60 mph . Fuel consumption is horrendous about 12 -15mpg !! . Like any vehicle they are very reliable if maintained by someone who knows what they are doing :)

An interesting Defender conversion spotted today in Meze

I look at those Lanny conversions and wince. Having rolled a few (having fun) and watched my wife and daughter flip over in a fully loaded one on the m69! The COG would be just too high for me to feel comfortable.

It was featured on million pound motor home the other week with a full tour of it,. I thought inside when you were in bed looked like you were in a coffin and only one window to see the view out of. Not for me but hopefully for they team that have put so much work in to it someone will think differently.
