What’s your best meal out, when motorhoming?

Kæstur hákarl (fermented shark) in Iceland. Tastes like a rotten fish Stilton marinated in ammonia.
A most memorable experience...........

Unfortunately ?

Greenlandic cuisine includes various types of dried and reconstituted seabird. I wasn't brave enough to try but people who did said it was remarkably awful.

Hi.
Thats got my taste buds working. SIL and daughters married quarters.. Sennelager.. Bratwurst- Frikadellen- etc. From Nicko ? the Greeks little take out....Just around the corner...RESULT!! Thanks, can still enjoy the taste now, after all these years..
Tea Bag
Don't forget the zwiebel

Fillet of sea bass either pan fried or cooked in foil with herbs and sautéed potatoes and asparagus and washed down with a nice crisp white wine followed by crepe suzettes.
??

Any food out is always good for me. The duchess can’t cook and we can’t fit the chef in the van. I suppose we could provide him with his own van,so he could provide for us,but it’s easier and cheaper to lay him off for a couple of months in the summer, then re-employ him on our return. He always comes back to us,knows when he’s well off, like any good servant should.
His best sea food dish is lobster in a Bollinger sauce,it’s quite a delight.(y);)

Hi.
"Bacalhau..." As above in the quote. I have tried it served allways. Only way i have not tried it is, if it has been soaked in Milk for a week (Changing the milk of course),then cooking it....Its NEVER going to happen :hi5:

No, no, no, this is a typical dish eaten on a Sunday morning and is delicious. I will post a photo just for you of me laying down the cod....
Here’s the photo of the cod covered in salt. Leave for 48 hours in the fridge , then wash off the salt and it will keep for up to 3 months in the fridge. Fabulous.

Expensive, but one of the best things I’ve ever tasted any where!

I had a cup of tea from there a few months ago.

It’s an area I grew up in.

Whilst I am sure the food is good it just struck me as being a bit “yuppie “ for the area.

As far as I know, the chef is a local lad who can only afford his current premises! He is very talented, and yuppie or not, I’m sure it opens up his delicious food to more people being in that location.

I only came across a young lady to be honest.

I am probably being unfair.

That area is long overdue having someone who can run a successful seafood business.

I do love eating out but I think my favourite meals have been either breakfast - coffee from my stove top pot and a pastry from the local boulangerie or lunch - a cold beer with a freshly baked bread roll, cheese and salad. Taken outside, in warm weather, with a good view.

Bluebell Inn at Whaplode St Katherine. Holbeach.
Great home cooked food, locally sourced, great value, great atmosphere, great beer from their own micro=brewery. And a CL to stay on after.
What more could you want,

I am sure it tasted nice, but that would wind me up.

A bit of wood slapped on the table rather pretentiously with a bit of bread, some salad and sauces and some fried stuff stuck on top.
Never noticed that, thought I was eating off the bench :sneaky:

The Gurnard's Head Treen in Cornwall on the B3306, food is just stunning and you can take dogs.

Seadrift Kitchen Cafe in PorthLeven just fantastic food.

One for Lunch The Hidden Hut, Porthcurnick Beach you won't find food any better and you can take dogs on the beach...

The only meal out we have had in 10 years of motorhoming abroad was in Dole on a wedding anniversary.......and if i remember correctly the last anniversary was in Frejus and I found a back street burger bar for lunch.
You spoil that woman and set the bar impossibly high for the rest of us chaps. :(

We've had a rough today having had the van diagnosed with a leaking water pump and radiator. We're stranded in Alcantrilha for the night whilst parts are ordered and fitted hopefully tomorrow. So we ventured out for a fish lunch. The sole cooked in the Algarve style with breadcrumbs and almonds was absolutely scrummy. Cabbage with garlic, small baked potatoes, again soused in garlic and a lovely fresh salad all for the princely sum of €12. The boss had sea bream which was equally good and well prepared.

Intrigued, trying to work out where it is PM if you don't want to put it in an open post ;)
I'm another not too keen on the Magpie.
Have had so many great meals whilst travelling, but one at the ACSI campsite, near the 'aeroplane graveyard' in spain was a right eye opener. Best duck we have ever had, we still talk about it, oh and a brilliant fish soup in Ireland, near the border but in the south can't remember where oh and I could go on and on.

We like eating out, fish and chips at the Magpie in Whitby, decent pub grub at Tom Kerridge’s but for me the very best meal I’ve ever had was in Le Gavroche. We were met by Michel Roux Junior, who shook hands with us and welcomed us to his restaurant.

The ambiance was really posh but very welcoming. We were supplied with endless fresh bread, and two Amuse-Bouche tasters before we had even ordered. We both ordered pork for our main and they brought a joint of pork to our table and carved as much as we wanted. Whilst we ate, Michel Roux came to our table for a chat and to check everything was okay. He’s such a charming character.

Two complimentary desserts followed and then our actual order. We had the cheese board which was massive and I mean bigger than our dining room table! When we finally finished our meal we were presented with hand made chocolates. I had to take these with us because we were so full.

We stayed here overnight:

We had a very similar experience with Michel Roux Junior and a great meal. I have eaten in few Michelin star restaurants and find some of them to be a bit to poncy, La Gavroche I think gets it just right.
It's very hard to pick a best meal but I regularly get to eat at Osteria del Mare in Forte Dei Marmi, great Italian see food and better than the very expensive options there. I made the mistake of taking my wife and kids there and they now think that every business trip I go on i spend my time in great restaurants getting spoilt.

We don't have a lot of meals out, but our vote goes to L’Eriçó Del Trampolí on the coast in Denia in Spain. I wasn't really dressed for the restaurant, as we hadn't intended to "go posh" but that didn't phase them, and we had a delicious vegetable paella at a very reasonable price considering the restaurant's location and the quality of the meal.
