Our MH has one of these and needs the connector hose to fill. When away at the weekend, we couldn’t remove the site hose from the tap and had to use a watering can to put some in. The problem being, that filling hole is on the lounge floor under the carpet so we need to carry several cans in throug th MH
Is there an easy way to remove this connector so we can just fill with a open ended hose? What is the point of the whale fitting, I can see it would be good for a permanent fitting but we won’t ever need that

To be honest Drifter I've only ever come across the threaded type taps which you screw the hoselok adapter onto.
We were at Inverness on Saturday and the service area had a hose attached that wouldn’t come off and hose not long enoug to reach inside the MH which is why I’m looking to have a flexible option for going abroad especially. It adds basically no weight but offers a solution to a problem that might occur again

I have the same with my Bailey 79-6 but the dealer chucked in the pump free (didn't even need to ask apparently they do it with all Bailey motorhomes as they have had it mentioned many times before) to be honest the pump has never been out the wrapper (yet) as we carry the normal Whale hose and an extension one with normal open end that we could use straight into top of the tank (which is inside the Mhome) never had a need to use a watering can yet as if I did I would need to get to a tap to fill it anyway and carry just about every type of tap adaptor I could think of though its nice to know I have the whale pump should it be needed.

After saying all that though I do agree it would be a damn sight easier if they had just fitted a straight forward open ended connection though maybe their background in Caravans may go some way to explaining it (even though their entry level vans, the Advance range, have the normal connection, go figure)

Going abroad you will find taps not fixed hoses, and if you do find a hose you can guarantee that it has been in somebody's toilet cassette so you might not want to bother with it ;)

Is the typical tap connector a threaded one? That’s perfect if so, I just want to have all options covered. I’ve got a couple of sizes thread for screw on too

Yes threaded variety of sizes or even a male or female push fit would be typical after all of those a rubber push over with a worm drive would be a get out of jail fitting.

I will give you an example of use though, when we go out to the factory in Germany there might be 100 vans or more and as they turn up during the day they want to use the service point so it may well be busy when we arrive so we just pitch up and then early morning while Mrs Funflair is still in bed I trundle over to the tap with my aqua roll fill it with 40 litres and roll it back plug in the pump and job done,

To go back to the “fitting to all taps” question, you can get an adjustable fitting like this:
Hozelock Round Mixer Tap Connector(maximum of 24mm diameter) Amazon product ASIN B000TAQZJ6
We have one, rarely need to use it, and to be honest when we do it is only so-so, often getting some leakage. But it adds to your options.

We used to have a Bailey, I hated the system, and if we were at a busy service point where you didn’t want to take 10 minutes to fill, we often used the hosepipe into the internal hatch method the OP mentioned.

don’t have a pump, I have a hose with a normal tap connector at one end and a whale connector at the other,
If it's a short hose, I'd be looking at fitting a universal hozelok-type connector at one end instead of the tap connector. If it's not short, maybe cut it at about 1.5 metres and add a hozelok connector to each end, with a double-male joiner to join them together.
Next, you could get a submersible pump, with a short hose and connector, and an extension wire to reach a cigarette-lighter socket in the MH. Also put an inline switch somewhere near the pump.
Amazon product ASIN B00CP70XGM
I use a similar system, with two 10-litre containers (easier to carry than one 20-litre). It's important to find a pump that fits into the container hole. Or alternatively get containers with holes large enough for the pump.
