Hello all,

Whale Expanse water heater not working on Gas or Electric!
I phoned the Whale helpdesk who suggested I get a new PCB, which I have done but to no avail :-(
I've attached a picture of the control panel, which displays the little flame and two wavy electric symbols as soon as I power up, that's not right is it?
I've pressed the red reset button and reset the panel by holding the two button method, not that there's an exclamation mark showing up. There's no airlock either.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have dealt with Propex who deal with Whale expanse water heaters they are extremely helpfull and will test your PCB and possibly not charge
You could if you were able to take the heater out send it to them and they will fix it very reasonably
Or give you very good advice over the phone

It looks the same unit that is installed in my Elddis
I press the button shown tap until it shows the wavy green symbol (electric ) or press again until it shows the gas symbol
If it’s gas symbol obviously make sure the gas is turned on
Then press the + button to the temperature you want

Does anyone know if this flame should be displayed ALL the time, even when off?
Thanks.

I have the version on our panel van that has the round dial so am not familiar with your panel
I hope the details will help
If you need any more from the manual ask

Are you trying to engage it on gas or electric or both?
I would try it on each individually

For the record:
It turns out it was a fault somewhere in the wiring loom, only 2v was reaching the boiler and it should be 12v. I ran a cable from a nearby switch which has resolved the problem.
Thank you for all the replies.
