We've binned France, we're going to Scotland!

Snap, we are doing the same , the costs to take our 3 Yorkies is a disgrace ! so our ferries are booked up to Skye, over too Lewis, back to Ullapool , up the north west, ferry to the Orkney then fun rally on way home.
All for less than the cost of taking our dogs to France, their loss !
Do they actually check you have dogs onboard

Yes they do, on some Cal Mac short crossings dogs can stay in moho, longer crossings they usually need to be in kennels. Pentland Ferries to the Orkneys they allow them in the upper lounge on board.

We overnighted in the car park beside harbour area, was quiet and area round there was great for beer, food & watching the world go by. We also had a walk up the cliff to see a house that was on grand designs, great views from up there too. Can't say we found it to be not motorhome friendly but having said that can't remember if there were no overnight parking signs in carpark? There were only around 4-5 cars, no moho's so we weren't taking the P and we headed off quite early the next day. Agree it's well worth a visit :)
You were lucky you didnt have a local telling you off:giggle:

Probably, car park was quiet when we were there. Spent a nice day & evening there, pub on front did nice food, couple of beers whilst people watching and lots of families taking paddle boards & kayaks into harbour area. Great spot 😀
