We are currently in a campsite near Orleans after abandoning our trip to Germany due to poor weather.
We are heading over to the west coast of France for a few days before we head up to Normandy at the weekend. We have done this area before so don’t really know where to go.
Really looking for a good Atlantic coast campsite or Aire with access to beach for a 3 day stay.
Also needs to be dog friendly and don’t mind paying for better quality site.

Il Oleron. Cycling beaches,quiet.
Il de Rey, just a bit higher up, a bit smaller though.
Mike.

As above, Ile de Re.

Oleran is free to go over the bridge !!! Re is not.

Might be packed at both this time of year, even the aires.

If neither of those are a starter for 10 then could I throw in the gulf de Morbihan. Anywhere around there will do me and I need you to write it up for me (with photos) as will be going there in September. Thanks in advance !

Just left Re, very busy. Sadly the weather is destined to be poor on that section of the coast until early next week. Also the bloody bridge is 16 Euro!

Fromentine has an aire directly next to the beach, decent municipal site at Notre Dame de Monts, direct access to beach and cycle ways for miles along the coastal dunes.

I’ll de Madame, if you fancy peace and quiet. Only one site, camping car parks ap will advise if space. Don’t worry about the causeway, it’s all part of the fun. Otherwise La Tranche sur Mer is a great location.

Might have to be further south towards Bordeaux because it’s chucking it down in the Loire valley at the moment 🙄
