This morning travelling serenely down the A12 towards Madrid, at a nice steady 90 kph, roads all but completely empty
This Nut in a Renault Megane falls asleep at the wheel and promptly writes off my Motorhome,
To say I’m gutted is an understatement, we had planned a 5 month trip including Morocco,
Now need to get the old girl home, so looks like it’s a winter at home for us this year,

Wow, terrible, you must be really shaken up. Was the Renault driver breathalised ?
Glad no injuries, but sometimes whiplash can take 24 hours or more to become apparent.
Good luck with onward journey and sorting things out

The Renault looks like it's got scrapes on every corner, (the corner we can see anyway) clearly a numpty driver who shouldn't be on the road

What a bummer.
If the chassis isn't damaged it should be repairable, but you would probably get back on the road quicker if it is writen off.

Bloody Hell

just shows how easy it is to be involved in a serious accident and it be no fault of your own 😟

Your safe and uninjured though so that’s a positive

Stay positive and plan what you want in your new motorhome and for all the journeys to come in it 👍

Gutted for you, just glad your ok and it’s a rear end and not the front. Hopefully you’ll have a trouble free repatriation of the van, a swift settlement and start again. Sorry the holiday plans are buggered.

By the way, is the cassette now going spare 🙄

I would very much doubt an insurance company would entertain a repair on your van looking at the damage, which should speed up the claim can you imagine how long you would need to wait for the panels let alone the interior damage possible chassis !

Best of luck, so so dissapointing for you

No consolation but thinking of you and hope you get it sorted soon. I’m sure it must have been a dreadful shock.

Pauline.

How the hell did he manage to do that?

Not sure but I was, obviously negative as last drink was Christmas 🎅

My 2009 Adria 680st was more damaged than that in 2023 year on M27 in a similar incident and LV paid £13k to have it repaired .... what a bummer for you though .
The chassis is definitely bent but may be repairable, time will tell

Falling asleep at the wheel, and driving very fast, if he hadn’t hit us he would have taken out the crash barrier,
I guess you didn't see him come either, shame really because if you had seen him coming, you could have moved over and let him continue on and crash into something else. Sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately the chassis is bent, but as it an Alko they do bolt together so may be repairable,

Chassis on my MH was not damaged ,, i was rear ended in 1990 when riding a motorcycle by a driver reading the daily mail ,, put me in Hospital and a wheel chair for 2 years there are a lot of idiots out there

Cheeky 😁as it so happens I have two spare ones as it was to be a long trip,
As my mum said if you don’t ask you don’t get 👍
