All the gear, and no idea!
Well after a very upsetting Xmas day spent with my dad in his final hours and watching him pass peacefully away, we have decided (after consultation with the hospital, family, and friends and thank you all for your hugs and kind words on the Xmas dinner thread) to carry on with our trip and get on the ferry last night bound for Switzerland (us not the ferry😁) so as I type this we are nearing cologne to go down the Rhine riverside to Alzey tonight, hopefully I’ll get a place on the aire around 4.00pm, I’ll keep you posted🤞

My commiserations to you Westy,, But be comforted that Your Dad died surrounded by Family and peacfully ,, its about the best we can ask for ourself and our loved ones .
Now carry on with your life as your dad would be proud of you and wish you a happy future

Sorry to hear about your Dad.
Try to enjoy your trip as best you can.
I'm sure your Dad was grateful to have you there when it mattered and would have wanted you to get on with your life.

So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

So sorry to hear this. We did the same after my mum died peacefully with all of us around her on the 17th January.

It was strange at first, but all the lovely Funsters in Beni made it so much easier for me.

Enjoy it as much as you can, I’m sure your dad would want you to.

Really sorry to hear about your dad WESTY66. It’s the hardest thing to be there and watch your parent’s final moments but I just hope it gives some comfort and reassurance. It’s the most you can do.
I hope you can continue and enjoy your trip.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Hope the trip down goes smoothly and that the break in Switzerland is the tonic you need at this sad time.

Sorry about the sad news but looking forward to seeing your pictures of the snow ❄️

It's great that you got to be there at the end for your dad. I did the same in December 11 years ago so I know how hard it is, but I also know that I'm glad to have been able to be with him.

Funnily enough I also went to Switzerland (and then on into Italy) just a short time afterwards and spent Christmas there.

Have a safe trip - some time away to yourselves to process everything is a really good thing.

condolences to you and your family, we had a similar choice when m wifes brother died 3 days before we were due to go on a trip and was told by the family to go. we went and on the day of the funeral we went in a bar to have a drink on him in fact we had several and then realised we had cycled to the bar is was fun getting back to the van

Sincere apologies WESTY completely missed the news on the sad loss of your Father. Condolences to you, Val and your wider family.

As Funflare says in #6 go and try to enjoy the trip, as your dear Dad would have wanted you both too. ❤️

Sorry to read the sad news about your dad, condolences to you and the wider family.
We had a similar situation a couple of yours ago when mum passed, it's fair to say it was a sombre holiday, but it did give us time to reflect on the good times we'd had.
Enjoy the break as best you can, I'm sure it's what dad would have wished.
❤️

My sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad.
I hope you have a wonderful trip and raise a glass to him in a day or two.

Sincere condolences to you and all of your family WESTY66 .
No time is a good time to lose a loved one, but Christmas time is particularly hard.
My thoughts are with you all.
