hymer t568sl
helo everyone new to the forum but not new to motorhomes, owned my 2014 hymer ducato t568sl 7meter for coming up to 4 years now and would not change it for any thing. over the last few years i have up graded the mh with truma aircon, solar and last year new tv and in house internet. but it all comes with a cost weight! plated as 3500kg plg most of the time we run slightly over about 200kg over gross, axel weights are ok checked on local weighbrige. Me the wife 2 dogs all our gear food and enough g&t for a week.
just spent a week on isle of skye and lock ness great time but the roads are terrible pot holes everywhere went to taliasker distilery what a road!! we think we have it bad in england but the local garages up their must make a fortune out of suspension repairs. anyhow to get back to my question thinking of upgrading the rear alko torsion axel to air assist and upgrading weight. talked to AS air at warrington can't sell diy kit has to be fitted by them £2100 fitted thought that was quite resonable. only adds about 30kg.
i have the usual 3 plate certs and i know ill have to contact sv to complite the paperwork. ive got a class 1 licence as i have driven hgv for over 40 years i am 63 this year and intend to retire later this year.
1 - fiat 3650 kg gross 1st axel 1850kg 2nd axel 2000kg-
2 - alko 3850kg gross 1st axel 1850 kg 2nd axel 2000 kg
3 - hymer plate 3500kg 1st axel 1850 kg 2nd axel 2000kg
question with air on rear axel am i still restricted to the 2000kg or will that increase and the same if i upgrade to the full 3850kg could that increase.
i am not vey computer wise so forgive any errors in the above

I will wait and see if they return. when it comes to big up grade's the problem I see it is the alko chassis with the torson suspension set up my be very limiting 2000kg my be it's max whatever I do
Fit semi air or full air on the rear and you can go to 2240 kg. Semi air costs around £2000 to £2500, full air about twice that.

If you have 15" wheels you will probably need to change the tyres to 225/70/15

My A CLASS HAS VIN PLATE OF 3650KG
BUT THE V5 SAYS 3500KG ASKED THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID HE DOWN GRADE HE SAID NO ,SO FRONT AXLE WAS 1650KG REAR AXLE 2000KG WEIGHT BRIDGE LOAD 3200KG ONLY 300KG LESS 75KG EACH PERSON LEAVING 150 KG THAT WHY WE HAVE IT UPGRADED T0 4250KG WITH SV TECH AT THIS MOMENT

A VIN plate is not a legal document, a V5 is.

I think for weight purposes the DVSA think it is.

No matter, if you read my post properly both show 3850kg, so no problem.

That information unfortunately I can not tell you but if true all paper work and vin plate are not legal check with the authorities d.v.s.a /d.v.l.a hope that helps
Dee sorted my uprate and was very professional and knowledgeable.
He told me exactly what was needed and asked for invoices for the work that was completed. He then sent me the paperwork back which I then sent to the DVLA and once the new V5 arrived i then fitted the new chassis plate.

I can't see what the problem is, surely if the paperwork has been submitted to the DVLA and they then issue a new V5 with the new weights then how can it not be legal.

You put a post on here then can't elaborate 🙄

I have not got the information you would have to check with the authorities to verify if your OK, they carry out inspection on all business and look at how they work

I wonder assume that Being under investigation does not automatically mean that they are guilty.
I will await DVLA to contact me if they think I have an issue with the weight status of my van.

I won’t be chasing them.

I can also confirm that on checking DVLA website today mine too has been actioned. Just awaiting my new V5 and refund. But please do tell did they amend the max. Permissible weight too or are you going to have to send off the V5 again
Yes they did. Both set to 4000kg.

We had a 2012 Elddis Aspire 255 plated at 3500 bought new. Glossops did a paper excersise to bring it up to 3700 as the payload was a joke, I contacted SV who supplied the semi air which I fitted myself in 3 hours. To get 3850 but if I wanted 2240 over the rear axle I had to go from 215/70/r15 to 225/70/r15 tyres.

Stage one complete rear air and progressive front springs fitted by AS at Warrington went without a hitch. Good firm to deal with Cath and team great ,only done 7 miles back to Acton bridge but my back already feels the benefit .
Stage 2 contact SV tec and give them some money.
Check on local weighbridge and thing where definitely a bit Dodgy.
