Weight of electric cars - issue with towing on trailer?

There is a lot of discussion about taking a car with you on a trailer.
There is also a lot of discussion about electric cars.
Given the weight penalty of an electric car over a petrol/diesel car, does this rule out having one car for home use and towing on a trailer?

Just a thought that occurred to me when idly looking at small cars.

Towing rating of 1250kg. They don't have the model number on the back clearly so easy to see how a 2008/3008 could be confused.

His caravan was a heavy one too, and he was doing it legally he said -> I enquired as the e-niro models (latest ones) have a tiny tow capacity.

Equally no idea about the range drop, but he was very happy about it.

Not according to Peugeot he isn’t

There's plenty of stuff online about US electric pickup trucks. They can technically tow. But range takes a beating. And they aren't particularly aerodynamic, so are less sensitive to the drag from a trailer.

I assume for most cars this side of the pond, they are physically capable and are probably safe to tow. But you'd not want to as it'd probably half the range (and probably screw up your range estimates for a couple of charge cycles too).

The question was about reasons NOT to use an electric car as a trailer rider because of battery weight issues.
