Hi everyone we are new to both motorhome and this blog.
We are thinking of purchasing a new florium 75lmf a class.
With the extras included IE awning etc it leaves a payload of around 465kg. My question is would this be sufficient for a retired couple with 2 electric bikes (44kg) and an inflatable kayak at 19kg.
We are looking to tour Europe and are thinking that this may be easier with a MH rather than our caravan.
Also have any of you knowledgeable people have any experience of the florium manufacturer?
Thanks in advance of any advice.

VWE quoted £230, and SV tech £260, but recommendations swung it, either way it pays for itself in a couple of years.
I have to admit to being surprised at the differential.
For the bog standard simple paperwork uprate I think I paid £160 a year ago.

Guess that’s inflation? Look at the continued increase in the price of MH, think the 2023 models are all about £8k up…..unlike our wages………..surely it’s not all due to Ukraine, oil prices, Brexit, etc etc…..

That's some inflation £160 - £230. That's over 40% !!!! I reckon he's realised he's finally seen what SV have been charging and getting away with!

Mikeg40. It will cost an awful lot more than you suggest, upgrading, it's on an Alco chassis. I believe more in the region of £2.5k
My kit cost £380.00, installed myself, paper work £180.00, so total was £560.00.

Demand was up because of Covid.

I have a similar MH, we were 20Kgs over, and we didn't even have cutlery, clothes, food or the bikes, there was a full tank of water & half tank of waste water, I uprated using SvTech Ltd, it is very easy just a paper exercise no more, we uprated to 3700kgs, and when weighed on weighbridge fully laden, although we were under, was not by much, so decided to uprate it again, I installed rear Air Suspension, which was very easy to do myself and ask SvTech Ltd to do new plate for 3850Kgs, they just ask for photo of Air Suspension, and supplied said plate free of charge, the web address below, Air Suspension makes the drive better plus don't bottom out when using certain ferries if rear is lifted, Hope you have a great time, and enjoy it to the full.

P.S.
The quoted weight for your MH does not include an oven & only one Gas bottle.
Is it a florium mh you have and how much was the air suspension please

when I up plated mine through SVtech the kit cost ~£450, fitting ~£200 and new rear tyres £200. no change to insurance price and a much better ride as well as piece of mind. if you have a C1 it's a no brainer
Hi sorry for my ignorance but what is the £400 kit supplied by svtech please

I don’t think the £450 kit was supplied by S V Tech. I think it’s part of a number of costs to uprate the vehicle but I could be wrong.

Hi sorry for my ignorance but what is the £400 kit supplied by svtech please
they are very helpful folk and can give advice on any setup. for me on a ducato base they gave me options - 3650, 3850 or 4000. 3850 is fine for me and they can supply a kit with or without a compressor for semi air suspension. I'm sure others on here have fitted it themselves but being fairly old/disabled/non mechanical I got my local garage to fit it. I needed new rear tyres as well but as they were 5 years old anyhow, no great problem. they sent the kit out with the new weight plate on receipt of a copy of the tyre invoice. all pretty painless. there are other kit manufacturers and ways to uplate but this is route I used

A.F.A.I.K., others may explain it more fully, or correct.
MAW, Maximum axle weight. This is the utmost weight your vehicles axles can be loaded to, subject to individual axles weight limits.
GTW, again, the utmost weight of your van, plus any towed trailer, plus the trailers load.
Axle 1 [ front] the utmost allowable weight imposed on this axle.
[ Total 4500 kg]
Axle 2 [ Rear] the utmost allowable weight imposed on this axle.

You will note the discrepancy of Axle 1 +axle 2 totals. This is to allow some tolerance of loading of your total of 4000kg. across both axles. Overloading the rear axle is really easy. Overloading the front axle, much more difficult.
You can almost always have an upgrade to the maximum axle weight limits, [ see threads on Van Weight Engineering / S.V Tech]. However, there is normally a cost implication of paperwork, and also some engineering upgrades if required.
I have assumed you already hold a C1 Class licence, ie, good for up to 7500kg, having passed your driving test quite a while ago.
Mike.

Many thanks. That now all makes sense.
I am travelling on my Australian licence of, as you say, quite a while ago, which permits unrestricted use up to 4.5 tonnes.

4000kg is the max weight of your van, total can not be over this,
No.1 front axle = 2100kg, No.2 rear axle = 2400kg these are the totals on each axle, so if you were at full capacity of 4000kgs, and the weight on the front axle was 2200kgs, then you can have no more then 1800kgs on the rear axle, add it together = 4000kgs
