Weight discrepancy.

So what is your thoughts 3850 on the plate Lenny? Does that just mean the AL-KO chassis would normally be a 3850?
Yes it has the standard light chassis which is 1850 on the front and 2000 on the rear, which is standard on a 3500kg Motorhome.
If you are going to uprate best to get it on a weighbridge fully loaded and check the axle rates as sometimes you don't gain a lot if the rear axle is on the limit.

Rear axle can be uprated to 2240 by fitting semi or full air on the rear, £2000 or £4500. If it has 16" wheels tyres should be OK, if 15" wheels tyres will need changing to 225 section.

Yep, this is what the guy who fitted my semi air told me. But the VB system, plus compressor and gauges only cost £1150 supply and fit, a month ago

I wanted the semi air for the improved ride and ferry ramps, but he said that my plate, as is, could be increased to 3650kg without any physical modification. It was just a bit of paperwork.

To go any higher, I needed semi air which could have taken me to 3740, BUT without any axle weight increases, so I would have fit 225/R15 tyres.

As it happens I don't want to go to the higher weight. Our garage is empty apart for a spare wheel as we have a small trailer for spare kit.

As I read your plate, yes, your MAM is 3850. However, as was said on another thread yesterday, the Police, home and abroad, go by the V5C...
until that time when they don't :giggle::giggle:

And my V5 @ 3500kg? Down plated do you think?
as said there should be a converters plate?
How can you have a gross weight of 3850 with max axle weights of 1850 and 2000. Some balancing tricks required?
unusual but perfectly legal.
So, do we think it was built as a 3850 and then down plated to 3500
Fiat bilt it as a 3650 then plate on right took precedence & what happened after that is there should either be another plate somewhere or it has been registered incorrectly?

No the police abroad go by the MAM. not revenue weight. If nothing in the mam they will use the last weight plate being the converters. Only to police in UK would the revenue weight mean anything.

I think you mean £1950 as its an Al-Ko chassis.

That is the Al-Ko plate not the converters plate, the converters plate is the one that counts, last fitted plate overrides previous ones.

The SV tech plate would take precedence, and is mirrored in the V5 !!! 20201026_124033.jpg20201026_115713.jpg

All 3500kg van on the light Al-Ko chassis have the capability of 3850, your setup is completely normal. It's standard to have the total axle capacity above the gross weight is allows for load balancing. On my van the front is 2300 and rear 2500, it is plated at gross at 4500kg.
