Hi

I'm new to motorhoming and am looking to find a weighbridge locally to see how much my 2002 Roller Team Auto Roller 6 berth weighs with all family and kit onboard. Its a Fiat Ducato 2.8jtd.

I also want to check front and back axles to calculate correct tyre pressures. My local tyre guy pumped them up to 65psi front and 74psi rear which is giving a hard ride but stable!!! Tyre states 80max.

I've looked at the Gov website which referred me my local authority which shows nothing!!! Checked Liverpool/Merseyside/Sefton and Preston local authorities and looked on yellow pages and other sites and cant seem to find one.

Anyone know of sites in my area?

Apparently Axtec in Runcorn have a weighbridge on site (they make them) costs £6. Not too far away from me in Southport! Going to call them this week when weather improves.

If all else fails, I have a set of these, found them to be very accurate, dear I know against £6 but you have them for ever and can weigh as often as you like plus other people's.

Interesting....how do you use it? One wheel or both wheels on it?

One wheel at a time, there is a video somewhere , don't know if it is on their website or YouTube.
It does each wheel in turn then adds up the axel and total weight.

Thanks alot chaser.....will come in handy if I go to Brittany and come back with wine🥳🍷

I suppose the ground has to be level, is there a variance? How accurate is it?

I carry mine in the van and check it now and again but as I am always well under don't bother a lot, but yes, I found it very accurate ,did a check against a weighbridge and it was less than twenty kilos out , and the bridge might not have been dead accurate, but yes you have got to be level.

I need a weighbridge near Liverpool. Just called Axtec but they are not doing MH weighs at the moment as they have moved premises. Prefer to avoid a scrapyard if I can...

My view, is that you are to be guided by the manufacturers of the motorhome. Also bear in mind that the tyres have stiffer side walls to bear the loads which are much higher than most cars so the ride will be a bit rough. The pressures you quote seem about right to me.

I was having trouble while staying in Southport a couple of months ago (thought i would weigh local or on route home ). Gov web site a waste of time and couldn't find one in that area. I did fill up with fuel water and every thing else i carry and called at one local to me in Stockport ( A Flour Mill. )The website you quote is not up to date as the only one in my area is listed as birch vale quarry 10 mile away and the one i used just up the road from me and a sand and gravel merchant 2 mile away are not listed , there does seem to be a lack of public weighbridges in the north west .(incidentally i ran stone out of the quarry at Birch Vale and all the peak district quarries for 20 years and worked also for a waste firm in Warrington so used a lot of weighbridges in my working life but not so many public) .

I have used a lot of scrapyards when on the skips and demolition and if you value your tyres i would keep well away,

But the manufacturer does not know what accessories have been added and what you carry when traveling.
The safest way is to get your axle weights,.......or you're just guessing

Yes CCC was mainly building waste so not scrap (less puncture risk) but not a pleasant place to take a large motorhome when site is full of large lorries and spray control hoses to control dust etc. May purchase one of the drive over 1500kg scales for future use.
