hi everyone

can you well travelled travellers recommend a 1 nighter about halfway between Saarburg and Bruges.

We like being near enough to walk to a bar/restaurant but it’s not essential, won’t need services but a cassette emptying point would be nice

Fire away if anyone knows anywhere and thanks for any help offered

Al 👍

Is this place on your route

Little less than half way but they have a restaurant and only 5 minutes walk into village

Yes we’ve been there before Brian 2 years ago and liked it.

The biggest meatballs ever lol

So Peruwelz it is 👍
Suggest that you double check that it is still open as it looked very much closed when we called earlier this summer. Someone else reports similar on S4S.

I hate to disappoint but that is closed on Monday as well, we are aiming for there on Tuesday. Tomorrow's aim for us is Montherme for that very reason, we're currently at Mouzon.

If you are a rail enthusiast there is a preserved railway line near Brasserie des Fagnes if you are passing that way again, the works is at Mariembourg near the Brasserie which also has a brewery and the railway museum is at the other end of the line at Treigns.

We quite like Han Sur Lesse, just off theE411 between Luxembourg and Namur. Nice little tourist town based around caves, but largish Aire on the edge of town, usually something open but nice for a walk by the river etc.

We’ve just arrived at Montherme, first impressions are quite good despite the continual rain along most of the journey.

We’ll have a night here and maybe even have a wander around later on 👍

Thanks to everyone who’s contributed

Hi Al,
We're at Montherme as well now, pulled in for a late lunch.
Driving the silver MAN TGE parked well down the line.
Almost sunshine just occasionally.

Rod

We popped into Péruwelz today for a shop after leaving the nice stop over at Strépy-Thieu dockside.

Probably to late and not in the right place 😂😂 we stayed here last year and found the little town lovely, plenty of pubs and restaurants and all only 10 minutes easy walk from free Aire in country park/estate.

Might be useful in future

Is that the boat lifts as its unclear if it was still open
Near the old ascensuer No 4. I looked for any signs saying no overnight but couldn’t see any. Plenty of locals in cars on a sunny Sunday. 3 Motorhomes and one self converted van were there overnight.
Unusually none over in the little carpark on other side of road bridge. It seems to have been re-paved and spruced up but I didn’t walk over to see any notices.

I guess that the lady who will 'sell' you water near the entry at the moorings will tell you what's happening with the restaurant.
Is that the one who comes round in her car demanding money with menaces

Good to sit and have a natter Al n Val, we found a few things in commom. Hope Val managed to do her shopping OK.
Cheers,
Rod and Liz

yeah same here Rod and lovely to meet you both

Val said it was a bit further than she realised lol but was revived with a coffee 😉

Hope you both have a safe continuation of you trip and hopefully we’ll bump into other again

cheers Al 👍
