Lots now
We don't know how but after our service yesterday morning and arriving in Evora Portugal I noticed we have lost our fresh water filling hole cap.
It may have not been locked and then stolen as we did stop for groceries or it wasn't on properly and it worked loose (although Phil definitely says he put it on correctly and locked it 😁) we won't apply blame (well I did scrape the alloys last week and then needed new tyres) so neither of us perfect, obviously I'm more perfect.
Anyway I need between Evora and the algarve Portugal a dealer that may have a replacement.
In the meantime I will check out if leroy merlin Portugals answer to B&Q (just down the road) have a automotive section and see if I can get a temporary fuel cap to get us through.

Any advice please

(changing husbands is not an option😁😁)

Plastic bag and elastic band springs to mind if you lose your new one chaps ;) Safe travels:drinks:
No its jam lids all the way

It's a while ago Lenny HB but I thought that special key only let's you remove the complete lock barrel from it's housing to allow you to fit another barrel, unless of course you could buy a preset barrel to suit your key number ?🤷‍♂️
Not sure but when I was playing with mine and not sure if they are the same locks on a Hymer. I got the impession that after removing the barrel if you then put a key in the tumblers would set to that key. Worth a try.

Been there and done that. So annoying. Extra key.

On a slightly off-topic note....my filler cap lock barrel comes out of the filler cap quite easily when I unlock it. Is there a way to stop this from happening???

The plastic is probably a bit worn it will be a case of replacing the cap.

Apparently, Jam Jar lids work well.

Just tried it on a spare lock that came with my last van and it appears to work.

Ive never locked or the cassette who would want it?
Having parked on the perferiqie I would always lock fresh water you never know what someone would think funny

Including fairy liquid not a biggie

Urine saves salting the potatoes

I've met people who's cassette was nicked.
At about a £100ish a time I’m not surprised, mines locked!! Also I leave the van keys in the water cap whist I fill up so I can’t drive off without putting it back, as I do the diesel cap key etc😁😁

I have a ser of locker keys which are separate.i used to hook the water cap with the keys in it over the bike rack

This practice was stopped after I drove about 150 miles with them hooked precariously on the back of the van

Either pure luck they did not fall of
Or
My smooth driving
I think luck

I’ve been guilty of this, left the cap on fence next to the water tap. However I tried using the screw lid off a standard size jam jar with a couple of windings of electric insulating tape around the outside that overlapped the edges. It hooked over the filler fitting and did the 250 miles back to home with no problem. I’ve kept it as my emergency replacement… because you never know!!
