Water tank cap with hose connector

No ruler or tape but.... 3 prongs

That's a 3 lug fitment and I think the required fitment needs to be 2 lugs? I have the same problem so did a bit of research (with help from this forum🙌🏼)

This has worked for me for ages - why over complicate things

I have a trusty heos one that comes with various adapter rings to fit the basic filler cap. 2 or 3legs

We are probably all a bit different. In my early days I used the hose method and tried various options. Then I settled on this setup.

Basically what you see is a cheap funnel that I took along to a plumbers merchant and messed around with bits until I was able to construct the gizmo, it sits in the hole and I bring 2 buckets of water per trip (almost 20 litres). A bonus is I have a very good idea how much water I have taken on board. I still have a hose somewhere but haven't used it for years except to clean the van. The buckets are handy too, we use them for all sorts.

This is a photo of the whole filling gizmo, probably cost less than a fiver.

Alongside is something I made earlier when I did use a hose, that was before I realised you could buy one ready made (doh).
I just bought a replacement filler cap, drilled the lock aperture slightly bigger and isopon'ed a garden hose fitting with some random tube.

Tried filling fresh water with a hose. Didn’t like it. Too difficult to dry out the hose afterwards.
So, used a 12 litre watering can to regularly top up only what we needed as we went along.
I get that this method wouldn’t suit everyone, though.

Agree, I know a lot use the watering can method, I opted for the flexi buckets because they save space and have mutiple other uses.

As they suggested, they can 3D model any (most?) variants of fit.
I’ve got the heosafe version and use one of these to stop the hose flattening

That would be a handy add on to improve my MH filling.

The pic is of a home based filling.
I use a flexi bucket & submersible pump on site.

Can you tell me what that means exactly as I've never dried out a hose after using it.

I found that there was always some residual water in the hose, no matter how much I tried to disperse it. This would lie in the hose until it’s next use, which may have been some weeks or months down the line. I didn’t think that was very hygienic. Also, there was the risk of the water leaking when stored inside the vehicle so the hose was kept in a sealed plastic bag when not in use. While this prevented the chance of water leaking inside the van, it also prevented the hose from drying out. Catch 22. My preferred alternative of a watering can resolved both of these issues. Even if it fell over on it’s side, due to it’s shape, any residual water stayed in the can. Consequently, it didn’t need to be bagged up for transportation, and it dried out within a couple of days due to the larger opening.

We never worry unduly about the water left in the hose as we always flush it through before filling the tank, and by ensuring the ends face upwards, with the hose stored upright, we don't get the leaking issue either. If we don't want to use the hose we have a couple of narrow 5 litre water carriers which are easy to store and carry as having one in each hand keeps the load balanced rater than all on one side.
