I have a 2013 possl 2win which is similar to globecar pvc’s!
I have a gas powered heater and water heater (Truma combi4) just recently it keeps dumping the water from the heater through the frost protection valve! This wouldn’t be too bad if it didn’t dump the complete water tank contents overboard too!
Is there anything I can do to stop it dumping the water, in freezing conditions I can understand it happening, but not in + temps!?

I think they will dump at anything below 4 degrees.

Have you turned the blue valve on the top 90 degrees to close it when you push in the reset button?

I leave my boiler on 'frost guard' 5c this time of year to keep all good. You can cheat the switch but you risk breaking your boiler.

Yes guys I know how it works but it has dumped at +7 before leaving me no water for brekkie tea or teeth brushing! I now Carry a 5litre big bottle of shop bought water for just in case! I thought it was electric AND gas but it’s gas only 😐
So if it’s not cold enough to have the heating on why is it dumping the water?

Sounds like the dump valve is faulty, they should dump a 3° & below but won't reset until up to 5/6°.
Temporarily you could wedge a piece of timber against the button or a small block of timber held in place with a cable tie.

A piece of string tied around the dump knob, through the cupboard door, along the ceiling, up through the Heki , along the roof, down across the windscreen and then attached to the tow hook under the front bumper. Might look a mess but works a treat.

Do you switch your water pump off at night?

If my valve drops and the pump is off, only the boiler tank empties and the main fresh water tank holds on to its contents.

A clothes peg around the valve keeps mine closed but that of course endangers your boiler. I spent four days below freezing a week ago, I considered the risk was to high to peg the valve, so even though I wasn't cold it did mean running the heating and hot water just to keep the boiler tank warm.

A good burn before turning in was a good move, turning the water pump off and being alert to the van temperature all worked.

With my van design I can operate the boiler controls from in bed, so if Iwoke in the night I could have a shot burn if I felt it was necessary.

Fit a clothes peg to it🧷

Thats impossible only works on the old electric valves the mechanical ones that have been fitted for years have a button that has to be held in.

So Google this heater element thing and it’s only to be used when the heater is ON!!!!!!!!!

I bought this age van for that very reason 😊

Not sure what the !!!!!!! are all about. I have my hot water heater on all the time when the van is in use. The Truma powers the heater element. Dont need it on at other times

If the heater is on why would I need a dump valve.
Is the valve dumping when the heater & hot water are on or just parked on your drive?

Bodge it - bend the end of the overflow pipe under the van and clamp it with a cable tie and then try the valve a few times to see if you can figure out why it's tripping at higher temps

If my hot tank drains it also drains the cold tank even with the pump off presumably by siphon action. My last motorhome didn't do this .

Thanks mate that’s what’s happening to mine. What motorhome have you got?

Ok it sounds like the valve is doing its job then.
If it were me i would drain down when parked on the drive if temps are heading towards zero. It will dump above at temps just above zero.
If using the van keep boiler & heater on overnight. That might stop it dumping depending on how warm the area is around the valve. On my Adria Twin it didn't get warm enough hence i fitted the heater element.
