WATER HEATER NOT WORKING ON GAS

Nice to see they are still doing them

Is it sorted?

If you can get to the burner then try to lightly sand with fine sandpaper the top of the thermocouple and the pins that ignite the gas.

did that to mine and it fired up first time. Although mine was a Truma . And the red light kept coming on even though it worked before.
so mine was down to just cleaning and also cleaned the burner ring. And then Vacuumed it all out.
it could be something worth trying. Before going too far .

When I have this trouble with the truma, I have to go outside, and blow into the vent. I think you get spiders webs in there which restricts the air flow, causing the sensor to cut out.
Still takes a few attempts sometimes but never fails.

Whilst I have no experience with MH gas systems, I have used domestic gas boilers for about 50 years.
Most if not all breakdowns were caused by thermocouple failures; when you press the on switch, this overrides the gas supply solenoid such that the gas flows through the thermocouple and when ignited, heats the thermocouple tip. After a few seconds, the thermocouple heats up and keeps the solenoid open so you can release button.
If for any reason, the flame goes out, the thermocouple cools and the solenoid shuts off the gas supply. No big bang!
For domestic boilers, thermocouples can be universal and are bent to size. There may be such for MH appliances.
UNDER GAS SAFETY LEGISLATION, ONLY QUALIFIED GAS SAFETY REGISTERED FITTERS CAN WORK ON ANY GAS APPLIANCES.

The gas firing unit on mine was old and rusty, got new one from eBay and had it fitted, then it worked fine.

yes the Truma hot water heater I have is gas and 240 electric Just a simple plug.
it has a thermocouple and is clearly visible for cleaning. Through the vents.

see the bottom port of the image the cowling is removable for cleaning.

as a competent person on both M. And E for many many years cleaning a gas burner is no differant to someone removing the tops off of a gas cooker for cleaning.

there are no gas fitters in the kitchen when the wife cleans the cooker and the burners rings.

as for doing up a gas fitting with gas tight and a gas tester gives me no problem whatsoever.

but anyone that is not confident then I also suggest a gas fitter .

Run the gas cooker hob for a bit to help draw through the gas and expel any air.

if the flame detiecon probe has a ceramic insulator its not a thermocouple

This has just been posted on another thread QUALIFIED GAS SAFETY REGISTERED FITTER. Not required.

under section gas training Unlike in your home or in an office, caravan service technicians do not have to be Gas Safe registered.
