Water filling hose is this a good buy?

I think the ideal is about 4m of ordinary garden hose to use almost all the time and a collapsible hose for when the other one won't reach.
I agree. I've got a 4m food grade pipe and for 90% of the time, it's all I need. Takes up very little space.
I've also got one of those expanding/shrinking pipes which gets a rare outing.
If the 4m won't work, more often than not, I use watering cans. I find that therapeutic 😌

I have the reel shown by CazPaul. It's poor. I cut the hose into 1/3 and 2/3 so we easily have a short hose, or a longer hose or by linking the hoses together for the full hose. By a hose which is on a decent reel. When you finish with it you can squeeze the water out.

We wouldn't with us.

These are good and last well.

After using a flat hose and getting advice on here I switched to the YOYO, got 2, one now stays at home as only once had an issue where the 20m didn't reach. Always carry a watering can as backup or for occasional site use.

I personally wouldn't bother with food grade for the length of time water is going to spend in a 4m hose!

For years I just made up my own. 5m plastic food grade hose and just bung hoselock connectors on. Fairly easy to just bung in a locker. 90% of the time its long enough. If I am going to a CL in the UK for a few weeks where its maybe a bit of stretch ill take a long hose but its rare its needed touring. If the waters miles away ill take a 25 litre carrier and 3 x 5 litre carriers on the bike. I enjoy doing that. Its a hunter gatherer thing.

I definitely agree a watering can or similar is very useful. If you are on wheel chocks and have the awning out you do not want to have to move just to fill up with water and maybe even lose your pitch while you are doing that!!!

I've got one of them as well, but the 10mtr one, fits in a small circular holder along with all my attachments, a funnel and a 10ltr collapsible water carrier, nice and compact for a small panel van although compactness probably won't be an issue for you Paul...

We bought a blue hose from B&Q for our first van not even thinking about food grade or how long it is but it has reached all the taps so far.
When we swapped to the coachbuild we bought another hose for the grey tank that is yellow.
There is a bag in the locker with filler caps hose fittings and tap adapters hopefully to suite all our filling needs.

Until you find on a German Campsite that the fitting required is a Imperial half inch Whitworth Screw!
I thought I had every compatible fitting!

I also made the assumption the Germans converted to the Metric system over a century ago, but apparently this did not include plumbing!

We bought the Brenner hose many years ago when Wombles posted one of her many deals! I think it may have come direct from Germany. Not sure if the copycats are as good.

With regard to the expanding hoses, I have two and have found they work well. I went for two because although 1 at 10mt is normally more than long enough they are not easy to effect an in the field repair. So one is a spare a well as an extension of the total run if needed. Stored in a water proof bag, but hung out to dry fully if the weather is playing ball.
Mike.

I have two as well and have a coupler to link them together if necessary, the hozelock one is 4 years old and as i'm full time, is used once a week to fill the tank, the only negative is it's yellow so gets a bit grubby looking.
