Very much doubt that they would be eagles, more likely griffon vultures.
The Spanish man with the binoculars said Aguilas (eagles) so I believed him but they did have wing fingers like a buzzardπŸ‘

Griffon Vultures for sure....you see them circulating on thermals or stacking as they gain height before heading off in search of food.
This time of the year you may see adult pairs of Eagles of various types..or last years young nipping home to see mom and dad....

North of Gibralter in Estramadura, Griifon Vultures and Egyptian Vultures are quite common. One day south of Caceres we counted over 50 in the sky with even more on the ground. Some animal must have died I suppose but within a short period of time there were none to be seen. They do seem to fly very high I suppose.

Between me and you...πŸ€” They are supported by feeding locations.....there isn't enough natural food available for such large numbers....I've seen them near Caceres too..

We saw such a feeding station in the Pyrenees 10 years or so ago. A farmer after slaughtering some goats put all unwanvultures items out for the vultures, the smell would have knocked you over, but obviously ambrosia for the vultures as there were 50 plus of them. Watching Griffin vultures here on the Tarn now, they land on sunlit terraces about 500Ft. High up.

We were on the aire at Caceres back in March this year, and there is a good viewing point just up from the aire that overlooks the town.
This pair were perched on a rock outcrop waiting for the sun to get the thermals going in the morning.

We certainly saw a lot of eagles when we stopped off there.
We were talking to some serious twitchers who were pointing out the different ones.

There were videos on twitter this morning with similar scenes and they were reporting the arrival of migratory Griffin vultures as they crossed the straits.
