I have recently had a Pioneer 950 Dab radio fitted to my Swift Bessacarr Ducato based MH 2020 . When I picked it up from the shop (Halfords) I noticed that the mileage indicator was flashing. After speaking to the guy that fitted the system he informed me that it has a Canbus system and that some can have issues. My options are I can either, 1. put up with it flashing, 2. Take it to the dealers and see if they can sort it out or 3. Take the system back out and put it back to the factory radio system.

Has anyone any advise on this matter? I like the new system and was hoping to get it rectified!!!

UPDATE!

After using my MH over the Xmas holidays I have noticed a few issues apart from the mileage flashing.

The unit will not work unless the ignition is switched on which in turn does not allow us to use it unless the key is in the ignition.
Also trying to get a signal to use the DAB facility is non existent unless in or around a town center.

I am awaiting a reply from the guy at Halfords who fitted it.

Problem after problem with this unit. You would think spending over £600.00 it would work trouble free!

May get them to remove it and put factory one back and get refunded???

I think my son put in a live to the Kenwood so I could have it on without ignition on, then, a diode so it didn't feed back to the ignition switch ,this is from my dodgy memory!

Another update.

After doing some research and advise from here (Thanks) I spoke to the guy who had installed it at Halfords and told him he had installed it incorrectly. Bemused look on his face. I had been reliably informed (From a guy at Autosounds) that there were a few variants of the harness and only certain ones will recognise the canbus system. I told him so. He done some digging and ordered up 3 x different harnesses.
I have been today for him to try and get it working ok and low and behold it is working as it should of done in the first place with no flashing mileage.
He told me that he had been on to their technical department who were unaware of this issue and that he had learnt by this mistake!!!

I have installed a switched live feed from the Hab battery and all is working fine .... Happy Noisy Days

A Halfords "technician" means they're the one who isn't stocking shelves or working the till that day !
not at all..

my daughter had a new radio fitted by Halfords, they have a technician who goes around the different Halfords stores in the area fitting radios, dash cams etc.. we had to book him on the day he was due at our local store ..

he did a great job ..
