Want to park a bit closer mate?

Are there many vans there Swifter?

That's down the road from me - well, about 15 miles down the road! - might go as a trader next year

Yes it’s very busy . Unfortunately there isn’t much organisation with regards to elsan points up on the top field . None of the Marshalls know where there are . I managed to find them but took a while , there are not marked up and I found another camper washing a cassette out on the fresh water tap which again wasn’t marked up .
Other than that it’s very good so far .

I might even pop down on Sunday when the day tickets are cheaper and see if it looks worth it from a trader point of view. It's only on it's 2nd year I understand so good to hear it's busy

Had a small tent pegged literally under the van and the tent was so close you could easily hear the shenanigans of the young couple who occupied it.

First morning they were there, I’d been and collected some fresh water and used the outside shower to wash the mud off my feet, then cooked some bacon sarnies for breakfast. I heard the girl telling her fella, that not only do they cook bacon for breakfast and she was hungry, but they had a shower outside and they had nothing, not even a bowl to wash in.

Should have offered to hold the shower head for her while she got washed.

We found Honfeur fine, at Le Crotoy last week they were triple parked in a block in the middle, we where at the front on the end, nice spot.
I usually find because of our length I can get the bedroom slide out without inconveniencing our neighbours.
No way at San Sabastian stadium Aire as we had cars close both sides.
I should have said, Honfleur aire in August.

At Newark Retrofestival last year a couple next door pitched their tent so close that they had to put pegs in UNDER or van!

they were a lovely couple though and although it made things a bit awkward (refilling the water from a container for example needed my best contortionist skills) we all just got on with life.

10 years ago I’d have wanted to kick their tent down, much more laid back now I’ve retired 🤣🤣

It’s strange behaviour but I guess if you use a tent and attend festivals, it would seem entirely normal to pitch up a few inches from another unit . Apparently at Glastonbury they pitch up under the wind out awnings 😆

On a Sosta in Italy at the moment. Was plenty of room when we arrived. Now full and is a bank holiday and they are circling like vultures looking for anywhere to park. Even last night at 11:30pm groups of 3 at a time in 7.5m+ vans hoping to squeeze in somewhere!
Not relaxing as we see how they park their cars! Just outside a popular town Mantova I’m surprised by the complete lack of proper campsites for many miles in any direction.
I don’t mind mixing in a few Sosta/Aires but relaxing on a real site with space and awning out and a decent view matter more to us.

At Vanlife festival 🙈😬.
Certainly less space than a CAMC site 😂😂
Obviously the other vehicle has parked where instructed but it’s certainly close 😂View attachment 762891
I was at the Vanlife Festival last year and reasonably close to the van's on either side, but there was room to roll out an awning. There's no way I'd be happy this close to another van, festival or not. At the Royal International Air Tattoo a few years ago I camped with a family member and the pitching up was dangerously close. The tent in front couldn't extend their guy ropes properly because they were so close to us. We left early.

I think im looking at my future travel staying on Aires all wrong, instead of having a nice big Carthago that draws people to park next to it, what I really need is a whoosh bang and do the obligatory 10 slams a hour up to 12 midnight, and from 4.30am (which is my natural waking time) will this ensure me some space??

Make your mind up ! One week it’s a Man Truck , next week it’s a PVC 😂

what had happened was they’d put the tent up, fairly close to the van, and it wasn’t until they pegged it out they found they were closer than they’d planned. And then had the choice of taking the tent down again, moving a bit, and starting again. Or just staying with what they'd done and pegging out as best they could.

they had a very nice Morris Minor pickup with them so they were easy to forgive 🤣 It was a shock though when we came back to the van and found our new neighbours were so close!

Pulled up at an Aire in France at Easter, no marked spots and was fairly full. There were 2 vans that had parked far enough away from each other that squeezing in would have been a bit close, but there was no other space, so I squeezed in.

It was a lot closer than I would have liked, but when needs must……

I'm at Le Man's for the 24 hour race. Arrived last night and was instructed to part next to this guy. He was over shooting his 7 metre pitch (I can't complain as I'm 7.5m too. ) So I had to park close.

However, when he decided to reverse up onto his ramps I really thought he was coming through!!
