Walking through other peoples pitches.

My Labradoodle boy was big and so placid. I was often asked can my dog say hello to your dog and I always said no, he's grumpy!! I was just so scared of him being attacked after a tiny poodle scared him when he was a puppy, it was snapping at his face!!

What does functionally blind mean please ?
She has a lack of pigmentation at the back of her eyes. We have worked out that she can see shapes and bright lights but nothing more. You could touch her eyeball before she flinched if she doesn't smell or feel you are near her face. It's not late onset blindness, she was born this way and nothing can be done. We did get her doggie sun glasses when she was little to help her with bright sunshine, but she doesn't like them. So I have to clean around her eyes daily

Is it just me that gets wound up by people walking through my pitch when away camping ?
Sat having an early morning brew this morn when some woman brushed past my window while out taking her dog for a walk . (Luckily our dog was asleep)
I'm on a clearly marked pitch with hedges all around it in the back corner of a site .

You had my sympathy until this point…..

Gonna wait see if she comes back and i'll knock her out with the kitchen window!

Why not peg out a good few metres of windbreak to fence it off. I doubt if it would really bother me at all I'm surprised some people aren't out there trimming the grass with their nail scissors!
Do the job properly barbed wire & electric fence for good measure.

Dog or not, why would anyone approach a van in a space/pitch so close that they could touch it? If its a French or Spanish style aire where you put your chair and table away at night, then of course someone may well walk between the vans as there's nothing to stop them. If its a campsite or dedicated, paid-for MH parking area, then the only reason to get close is to retrieve an animal, ball or piece of clothing that blew off a line. I've been on an MH site which I paid for but which resembled a field more than a proper parking area and if a dog came sniffing, I'd greet it but hope the owner would swiftly retrieve it! Not everyone is or has passengers who are doggy fans!!!

Hardly ever use sites but it seems to be a UK thing doesn't appear to happen in Spain and France.
We love touring Spain and generally use sites mainly because haven't got the necessary solar capacity to make us more self sufficient. Anyway we have become accustomed to being on sites during the many Fiestas and weekends when droves of Spaniards hit sites within striking distance of big Cities. Chaos often follows motorhomes vans caravans and tents spring up on any available space which on occasions is a corner of neighbours ( mine) pitch not in use. All very friendly but disconcerting to the uninitiated. Come Sunday 4pm there they were gone.
I guess it's difficult in those circumstances to see the foot traffic through the pitch.
So more evidence for Spain phobes and site dodgers and a reminder to self to get solar sorted, just got refillable gas so getting there. I love Spain but must get off the beaten track more.
Also I agree that ignorance is a key character of the pitch incursions described @ #23
;)

I don't get this at all. To me unless there are emplacements, "your pitch" is the area your stuff covers, and the five metres (!) between is free for all... I probably wouldn't walk within say ten feet of people sat there, or look through their windows.
The thread becoming a doggie thread does show a different perspective - but this seems to be a dog-on-dog problem, not an issue for humans with humans.

Is there a humane way to keep humans, dogs, dog owners or any other non invited human/animal a not so rude distance away from your area on site?

If I was on a site and people wandered across my pitch it would really piss me off.
Lenny, you need to get on more campsites. Most of our motorhoming is done abroad and we laugh at the number of people who walk over our pitch while we're relaxing just to save a couple of yards. Last time out we had one who actually walked under our awning and we were sitting under it eating. I don't think she realised we were there till too late but it didn't stop here doing further shortcuts.

We had some woman keep walking over the front of our pitch with her dog when we were away a few weeks back, it wound Mrs CC up as she kept on saying about it.
We had grass patch about 10ft long up to a fence in front of the pitch and while sitting there this woman came along again with her dog and Mrs CC said there’s that woman again☹️☹️

She didn’t look the sharpest tool any way, bloke on the pitch next to us had the same sort of pitch and had his massive bear like dog tied up to the tree on a long bit of rope, dog spots woman runs over to play with her dog and next thing the rope has sent the woman up in the air😂😂
She is then fighting trying to get off the ground as the big dog is trying to play with her dog😁😁
Bloke in the pitch next to us is oblivious to anything going on so woman is fighting off the big dog on her own.
Me and Mrs CC to busy laughing to help and anyway big dog and woman are muddy by now so I thought that will teach her😂😂
After a few minutes she manages to crawl out of the range of big dog and sort herself out😁😁

I have never been parked anywhere where I thought the ground was mine, I suppose parking on Aires is different than sites, but if someone wants to walk past our van,get on with it, same with me I'm afraid, if I am walking on an aire and want to go past another van,I just do.
It's as much my ground as theirs, not my fault they have parked on it.
And as for dogs , I think you all know my feelings on them, very much the same as JJ

No one comes near our pitch when the see our dog. It’s a long nosed long tailed short haired terrier.
Mind you some people call it a crocodile 😎
You've gotta post a picture!

These things only wind you up if you let them.

I love sarcasm for times like that, stick your hand out and ask them for a toll. Or ask if you or your chairs are in their way, Ask them, have they come for the BBQ? or stop them and ask if should you leave a light on at night in case they want to use your pitch after dark. They'll get the message or they won't, but don't worry about it.

But if you really want to keep your pitch all to yourself, buy one of my new flags.

Hallelujah brother 😂

And then, the next day. A group of dog owners stand in-front of your van. Chatting away with their dogs whimpering and barking. Not in front of their pitch, yours !
Never new I had been on a rally with you before 😂
