Is it just me that gets wound up by people walking through my pitch when away camping ?
Sat having an early morning brew this morn when some woman brushed past my window while out taking her dog for a walk . (Luckily our dog was asleep)
I'm on a clearly marked pitch with hedges all around it in the back corner of a site .

Gonna wait see if she comes back and i'll knock her out with the kitchen window!

Its not just you, we'd feel the same

I’ve experienced this in the past and I was basically told by my most members on here to live and let live . I know it’s really weird and most people feel very uncomfortable with people walking over their pitch but apparently it’s completely normal lol . Just try and have some banter lol . “ can I help you ?”
“ is the footpath closed ?” Normally this makes a good conversation lol 👍 it’s not worth getting stressed out over it .

I get wound up if people bring their dogs right up to our van, but please remember, it's not your pitch, you are paying to use it for a few nights

You could also warn them that the warden warned you to keep the dog off that bit of grass for a few days as it had just been chemically treated

I can imagine Staffordshire bull terriers being extremely defensive over a pitch. Presumably you are an owner of that breed of dog . I know they are loyal and defensive so it’s a worry that people allow children to wander over pitches where defensive ( not dangerous) dogs can be on a lead within the pitch area .
Edit
just want to make it clear I have no problem with dogs of any breed being on campsites . It’s the irresponsible parents that don’t teach campsite, basics, who worry me .

Hardly ever use sites but it seems to be a UK thing doesn't appear to happen in Spain and France.
If I was on a site and people wandered across my pitch it would really piss me off.
It’s completely normal here Lenny .

Why not peg out a good few metres of windbreak to fence it off. I doubt if it would really bother me at all I'm surprised some people aren't out there trimming the grass with their nail scissors!

I only have the 2 now and whilst one is protective and will step back from a confrontation, my girl is functionally blind and lives life at 100 miles per hour. If she can hear you she wants to jump up and say hello. It scares nervous people before they know her, and her brother waits till his sister is happy before greeting people. The big boy we lost last year was as soft as and considering that he was rescued from a fighting ring was really friendly. He even did some training and was nearly a fully accredited assistance dog. He did work as a therapy dog though and was very good at it

Not all Staffordshire Bull Terriers are defensive, that is for certain

Thank you. You sound like an absolutely brilliant dog owner and you give all your dogs a brilliant and amazing life 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Annoying, isn’t it?

We had a problem with random cars driving between the vans at this weekend’s rally at Chester making it dangerous to leave my dog on his tie-out.

I solved this by putting out a windbreak. It worked until I took it down last night in a howling gale and forgot to bring the poles in. Someone drove over them 😭

I’m another one who is well peeved if someone invades my pitch. I have rented the said area for a given period and therefore I expect others to respect my space.

Once had a single lady walking two dogs cross our pitch and my terrier who was new to being with me after my mum died suddenly, he broke his chain and ran over to her (he was tiny and I had no idea back then of his strength) she started screaming causing a right row between us all as I was accused of not being in control of my dog. My mums dog who hardly knew me was so confused and lost and was waiting for my mum to come and fetch him back:cry: he meant no harm and just sniffed and wagged his tail at them. But the damage was done. I just wanted to go, so in the morning we left.

Never mind physical encroachment. 25 years ago at my first and only rally an elderly lady parked her battered tiny Romahome close alongside me and put out two parrots in cages which never stopped talking and screaming obscenities all day long.

My dog was behaving perfectly on her stake. Another camper 'just had to' bring their 'friendly' dog onto my pitch so theirs could say hello. My poor dog got attacked. I was so pissed off.

I don’t really care if someone wanders across though I would prefer they didn’t.

Of course, it doesn’t happen often. :-)

My arguement like Cal54 points out is that although it may technically not 'my pitch' it is the ground that i have rented for a set period of time and expect people to respect that .
why are people walking so closely alongside my property within a clearly defined area to take your dog for a leak ??
IGNORANCE thats the reason .

This really annoys me. People think they know dogs, but evidently don’t.

I can take people walking across, but if my dogs are outside then you don’t have touching rights and neither does your dog.

You are right to be annoyed.

But they would be the first to complain if their dog was attacked. ....and googlebot your dogs would instantly be labelled as aggressive because people are judgemental of anything bigger than a jack Russell

My sister in law has a guide dog. People are always trying to pet the dog. They rarely ask permission and totally ignore the fact that the dog is working.

You’re right, it’s ironic that the only dog that has ever bitten me while out was a bloody chihuahua off a lead.

I only tie the dogs up outside on sites, as others have mentioned, I paid for the rent of that pitch so the dogs can sit out.

That said, I am not an oaf either, the Malinois is a perfect guard dog. She barks and growls if people she doesn’t know come near, so more often than not, the first woof and she is straight inside.

I suppose it’s all about compromise, if I want to be on my own, there are plenty of sites I can do just that. On sites you need to be more considerate, like not walking across other peoples pitch. 👍

As well as cars we had a funster allowing their dog to pee almost in front of our door.
No names as I'm too polite. But they probably didn't even realise.Well they did, they watched the dog pee, but didn't realise its was not the correct thing to do . o_O
