Voltage regulator

Oh well when on hookup, I want to know if the power drops as when in Spain last year the electric kept on going off and on which mucked up my electric part of the fridge. So that's what I want it.

Hmm. Power cuts and spikes up or down are a different issue to brown outs and voltage fluctuations. The only solution for the former is an online UPS. They effectively are a charger, a battery and an inverter in a box so the output power is always provided by the inverter. The big issues are that they are heavy, need regular maintenance and cost £££'s for one that can continuously deliver 16A with peaks of inrush current above that.

You can get cheap power conditioners that partially stop over voltage spikes and the like, but are very limited in what they do, and do not stop the power off, power on issue that seems to be what you are trying to protect against.

Sorry, meant to add you can get plug-in power failure alarms that will alert when the power goes off. Trouble is, that would provide no protection for things like the fridge that failed to deal with the resultant spikes.

I’m not sure a voltage regulator is actually what’s needed to alert you to your fridge failure.
Does it not switch to an alternative power source automatically?

I have obviously confused you people. On some sites I have seen ( mostly French motorhomes) a box underneath the van which tells you the voltage coming in , if there is a surge in electric it will cut off so as not to overload the appliance. Which happened to my fridge in Spain. That is what I would like recomendations.

You need a Sollatek AVS30. Whatever you do, do not buy what seems like a bargain - there are a lot of dangerous counterfeit units about. The genuine units are about £94 at RS.

They sell good units in Obramat stores in Spain, very reasonable price too around €60-80 ..

As mentioned the Sollatek AVS30 will do the job but only buy from Sollatek or RS Components (Sollatek sell on Amazon).
