Anybody got a park & ride recommendation for visiting Liverpool for a day (arriving from the East/Manchester ish...)?

Thanks!!

hi park in southport ,,get the train every 15 mins to Liverpool centre lots of places in southport to park ,,
Like that, thank you. We're going to Southport anyway but didn't think about it as a p&r venue.

Likewise in West Kirby on the Wirral (against the Marine Lake). We've overnighted there twice now. A Mersey Rail day rover ticket is about five or six quid from memory. Easy regular journey into the city centre.

if you tow a little car ,,drive to hillside ,,lots of free parking, jump on the train there about 40 mins to Liverpool

Crosby, Hall Road Station. Large car-park for free if a rail user.
20 mins to Liverpool. 20 mins to Southport.

Hall Road is a minute from Crosby Beach, the "Iron Men".
Plenty of quiet roads in Blundellsands/Crosby to park safely overnight.
Or you could take a chance in the Beach car-park, or leisure centre car-park. Not supposed to, but it's scarcely enforced.

I did a little guide to the area 2 years ago. Not much has changed, except there are now signs at the leisure centre car-park (Mariners Road). People still park overnight!

At least two funsters that I know of have followed my recommendations, with happy results.

Kings dock secure parking £18 per night in the centre of liverpool lots of vans use it.

We stayed at Albert dock a few years ago and then later the council stopped it..
Good to see there is a overnighting allowed again, can plan a visit later in the year. (y)
Was aware of the Marina but didnt been the facilities or the price..

We have stayed at Chester Fairoaks and caught the bus from the Shopping Centre nearby to Liverpool for the day.

I forgot to mention the large expanse of grass to the west of Burbo Bank Road North for an overnight stop. Two minutes from Hall Road station for the park & ride to Liverpool/Southport. 20 minutes either way.
Last year a bunch of "travellers" took up residence for three or four days. A contact in the council told me they weren't interested, except to perhaps do a "welfare check" if they didn't eventually move on !

I was flying over it yesterday evening and there was also a large motorhome on it.

There is a kerb to negotiate to access the grass. I think the easiest access point may be near a locked gate on the Serpentine, opposite Bronshill apartments.

Still not a park & ride

And not just "cheaply", but for free.

Blundellsands (Hall Road station) is the best, for all the reasons I've given:-

Close to the motorways M57/M58. Only 5 miles/15 minutes away. [and the M53 is about 25 minutes away]
Safe, very quiet, very affluent. For many years Crosby has featured in the Sunday Times "best places to live" list...
Crosby Beach, and the Sefton Coastal Path [and if you're a golfer, you have one of the country's top courses right next to the station! https://www.westlancashiregolf.co.uk/ Bring your clubs !]
Safe overnight parking near the beach/station.
Equidistant from L'pool and Southport. (20 mins by the excellent trains, every 15 mins)

Return trains, departing from Liverpool Central run until about 23:38. [Do check the times and the particular station. https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/jour...gHour=20&leavingMin=00&adults=1&extraTime=0#O ]

A later taxi (Delta Taxis) would be about £16-18, depending on time/date. Journey - 7.5 miles back to Blundellsands.

If you stand on the stunning Crosby beach with binoculars, you can tell the time from the clock on the Royal Liver Building, about seven miles to the south.

The largest clocks in Britain - yes, they're about 2ft larger diameter than the so-called "Big Ben"... ;)

The building was also both the largest and tallest office-building in the UK for over 50 years, from 1911 until the Shell Centre appeared in London in 1962.

Liverpool will constantly surprise you - if you look UP !

I have parked at Crosby leisure centre once, at nearly 10pm we had a group of 5 youths banging so hard on our side seitz windows I honestly thought they would have smashed them completely, I flew out of the van in just my shorts with my baseball bat and they all legged it, thankfully, otherwise I might have spent the night in the police cells, & some of the youths would have spent it in A+E, we moved off straight away as they would probably have returned when we were sleeping, so I wouldn’t stay overnight there again, beware.....just my experience...

I'm sorry about your bad experience. It's the first one I've heard of in years of talking to people, advising people and staying there myself. Two couples, one from New Zealand and another from Ireland, followed my advice and had a very pleasant, quiet time, parked there. Another couple chose another recommended spot without issue.
You were just very unlucky, I guess. I have listed several parking places in Blundellsands aside from the leisure centre, which now does have no overnight parking signs in any case.

Another option would be £10 a night to stay at the Scotch Piper Pub in Lydiate. The bus stop for the 300 bus (Southport to Liverpool) is right outside.

Wrong side of town for me but that looks nice, thank you!
