Hi everyone :)
Continuing on with my total cleaning, I'm faced with the problem of staining on the vinyl flooring, caused by the rubberised backing on a door mat. The stain was already slightly there when we bought him, so we put a mat down over the stain a) to cover the stain and b) erm...to use as a doormat :) However, when I removed the mat before we sent him for repair I was shocked to see it had become very much worse than it was originally!! So, can anyone advise me on how to remove this stain, please? I've tried normal household cleaner (Flash with Febreeze) but it hasn't worked. I'm scared to use bleach, in case it makes it worse, and the internet only comes up with baking soda, which I don't have :(

Thank you so much for any advise :)

Try white vinegar

Just put the mat back (y):roflmto:

That had me in stitches!!! :roflmto::roflmto: Unfortunately, my OCD won't allow that, even though I'm on an 'upper' at the moment

Thanks...it may come to that! But I'm furious it's damaged my MoHo. I'm having to 'zone out' a bit from it, to avoid going on a downer. So, to distract myself, I'm applying some 'stained glass' vinyl to the lower half of one of our house windows. Anything to avoid getting depressed again about our MoHo :)

Perhaps just a gentle soap cleaner, but left on a towel overnight to soak in. Not looking promising though.
Maybe, just let the U.V. get to it by leaving it exposed when possible??
Mike.

You could make it a feature and move the mat around leave it a while so get a pattern

Keep your chin up at present my hand basin is in bits
I'm really p'd off with AIB INSURANCE
and there's a work issue going on

On the bright side there's some.blue sky

we had similar in our van. I thought the shower duck board looked a bit dowdy, so treated it to a coat of linseed oil. I left it to dry for weeks before putting back in the shower cubicle, ON TOP of a 10mm foam cushioning layer I always keep in the tray when it's not being used. At some point, months later the black foam got put back in the tray upside down, and left in for a couple of weeks. In that time it transferred the linseed oil it had absorbed onto the shower tray, leaving a perfect replica of the shower tray slats on the shower base.. I got the most worn out pan scourer we had and gently worked the areas with some kitchen orange trigger spray. It's not removed it entirely, but faded it enough to live with. In your instance though, I don't think that will work as it appears the area in question is now lighter than the area not affected.
P.S. I wonder if some of that plastic self adhesive stuff that furniture removal people use would be good idea stuck to the floor before the matt is then put down on top of it?🤷‍♂️
Mike.

I'm so sorry you're having a pants time 🤗 I hope you get your new basin really soon :) xx

We had the same thing happen with a brand new caravan we bought.
The dealer put the spare wheel inside as they were waiting for an updated spare wheel carrier. They tried everything to remove the mark caused by the rubber tyre but admitted defeat and they had the vinyl flooring replaced for us. We were told it was a chemical reaction that had caused it.

Mike.

It's the square yellow area that has changed. The area around it is the original colour.

What business are you in? Just wondering if it's a service or product I might buy? xx

You might want to test that in an inconspicuous area, say in a cupboard floor or similar, that stuff can do wicked damage in the blink of an eye.

We had a bathroom mat in the house that stood on the vinyl floor. Left a hard to shift sticky mess. Found WD40 sprayed on and allowed to soak for 5 minutes lifted the sticky backing off the vinyl floor. Be sure to wash down with hot soapy water after otherwise it’s a bit slippy to walk on.

You're not one of those 'influencers', are you? ;) Seriously, is it that bad? xx

OK, peeps, I've now tried Flash with Febreeze, Flash with Bleach, Alcohol Cleaner and White Spirit. Nothing works 😭 I'll get some nail varnish remover with acetone next from the shop and try that (in a cupboard first!). Then White Vinegar, which I assume is easy to find. Then I need to find some Baking Soda....in France! Le Baking Soda, non? :roflmto:
