We really enjoyed it, not at all bothered about them stretching the artistic licence the Subs too big etc etc it is highly entertaining looking for sub plots and so on and that will do me.
Perhaps it was another attempt to cause an onboard problem first the snagging of the trawler, then the murder, the reactor problems, near collision a lot of different clues to who or what is out to get the sub or red herrings perhaps...I also fail to see how the sub didn't spot the massive tanker, they would have heard it coming from miles away, with their sensitive hydrophones, they needed the lovely Star Ship Enterprise LT Uhura on board, she would have "Hailed" them well before any collision.
We have to put on subtitles like in many other TV programs.Totally agree. Muffled dialogue not helped by some Scots accents .

As an ex dog handler I questioned the authenticity of the same two dogs guarding 50ft of concrete all the time at the entrance gate, would never happen.I’m not sure a more realistic script would be very entertaining.
wake up, eat, go on watch, get off watch, eat, sleep.
most of the actual dialogue would actually be better if it was too mumbled to hear.
least that’s how I remember it.
The XO locked her in his cabin, she kicked the vent out of the door to escape. Was good but would she really be locked in her ‘room’ as she was sharing with others and could she kick down the door?!?!
Enjoyed it tho!
And the script was full of subtext too.As an ex dog handler I questioned the authenticity of the same two dogs guarding 50ft of concrete all the time at the entrance gate, would never happen.
There again, they are probably sub-woofers..
A reactor alarm two murders a release of a nerve agent and they're still not done!. I can't believe real life on a sub is quite that exciting most weeks
The loss of two refrigerators along with the spoiling of the fresh food that should have lasted around the next 100 days the crew is now on reduced rations and tinned food (having to collect the refrigerant gas in a bag to stop it contaminating the air in the sub sounds like a line in the script). A fire and a rating with a burned hand it all seems reasonably ‘exciting’ just missing a few deaths I guess. Both are not exactly great films for recruitment.A reactor alarm two murders a release of a nerve agent and they're still not done!. It's more that the BBC team have missed an element that would've seriously increased tension and drama.I can't understand why anyone is surprised that it bears no resemblance to reality on board a submarine. Do people think casualty bears any resemblance to working in AandE or that life on an everyday northern street is like Corrie!
may be a different boat but I thought the worst bit was no smoking for 8 weeks. The loss of two refrigerators along with the spoiling of the fresh food that should have lasted around the next 100 days the crew is now on reduced rations and tinned food (having to collect the refrigerant gas in a bag to stop it contaminating the air in the sub sounds like a line in the script). "For the first time British cameras have been given access on board a hunter-killer submarine on live operations. Submarine: Life Under the Waves goes on board HMS Trenchant, a nuclear submarine, on its four month tour of duty to the mid-Atlantic to uncover the reality of life at sea. Living in extremely close quarters the crew are tasked with helping guard the UK’s Trident missiles and keeping British waters safe."Which boat?
