I have a Mastervolt inverter and my GHD straighteners and Dyson hairdryer won’t work on it. I bought a cheaper hairdryer (not 12v) and it works fine.

Seems like a game of roulette!I have a Mastervolt inverter and my GHD straighteners and Dyson hairdryer won’t work on it. I bought a cheaper hairdryer (not 12v) and it works fine.
Mains powered ones are GHD, Helens older than the ones now on sale, looking on John Lewis site the originals use 485w of power. Thanks for that. Which mains powered ones are they? If I could have make and model, that would be great.
Thanks
Couldnt agree more!Ours is more than powerful enough for the straighteners but will not run them without going into overload and clicking away.
It’s bizarre that nobody even on the Victron forums seems to have an answer.
If you get the surge protector that hasn't fixed it for BigDean it should fix your Dyson hair dryer problem on Mastervolt, you most likely have the same inverter as KayeB and it fixed hers, she might even tell you the exact model of surge protector but don't know that it would make much/any difference.I have a Mastervolt inverter and my GHD straighteners and Dyson hairdryer won’t work on it. Years ago I bought a victron 475w pure sine wave inverter for the caravan, it wouldn't run the wahl hair clippers.. Actually they'd start for 10 seconds and just go off with no overload. Current sense off, no difference.
Hi Martin, yes it may be the same but I think it was far cheaper just to buy a regular, cheaper, hairdryer and not bother about straighteners and curling tongs... I know... slipping standards and all that!If you get the surge protector that hasn't fixed it for BigDean it should fix your Dyson hair dryer problem on Mastervolt, you most likely have the same inverter as KayeB and it fixed hers, she might even tell you the exact model of surge protector but don't know that it would make much/any difference.
I understand that Mastervolt UK were less than helpful but the German forum came up with this fix.
