Hi,
New to motor home fun, not a 'proper' motorhome (one day maybe), it's just a van with windows lol!
T4 transporter with full vanworks conversion.
Taken on my brother's VW T4 2.5 TDI.
Live in Weymouth, will be mainly using for day trips out and about, possibly a one or two night camp-out.
Have awnings, trailer, camping stove the lot!
Me, my husband and two dogs!
I was told it will be fun!
We'll see!
Liz.

quite a few years now, and loving every minute..
first good thing, getting a van, and its always helpful if it has windows so you can see where you're going.. :giggler:

and the second good thing, you've found the best and friendliest motorhome forum on the internet, and you've joined up too..
well done and welcome, let the fun begin..(y)

Welcome onboard 👍👍

If your T4 is fully converted, then you might just be interested in this thread about speed limits for vans with windows. Hope it helps 👍

Apols if you are already aware, many aren’t as there is a lot of misinformation about.

I reckon it's man and wife.....same van.
Nothing gets past us :ROFLMAO:
Yes, my OH having a laugh.
The picture he's used is from when my brother bought it (plate belonged to seller).
My picture is from when my brother owned it, his plate, which I've kept. I've just bought it from his wife.
Sadly my brother died last month.
But OHB lives on with us now and will keep on touring as much as possible!!

Welcome to Fun 👍👍👍

Seems to have lost the links..

Bottom line.
If your van is fully converted with all the required elements HERE then it IS a motor caravan regardless and van speed limits do not apply (unless you are over 3.05 tonnes U/L weight - different tules for these heavier vehicles)

The DVLA classification of a ‘motor caravan’ has no bearing on speed limits at all.

As admitted by the DVLA themselves. See attached letter.

The trouble is… Speed camera partnerships and automatic speed cameras (wrongly) use the DVLA database to check what speed limit applies to passing vehicles. Many unfortunates driving at 70 have just pleaded guilty when the scamera believes it should be doing 60 and automatically issues a ticket.

Those who are aware challenge any ticket and it is always dropped. It is a known problem that never seems to get resolved.
