Van Weight Engineering

Many thanks. Good to know. Off to check!

I think you will find if you have 15” tyres the most you can up plate to is 3850. To get 2240 on the rear axle you need 225/70/R15 tyres and semi air.

Not r16 tyres???
I would have thought 225 75 r16 (a commonly used commercial vehicle tyre size should give better load rating.

Cheers James

If tyres were the only consideration my 15in ones are rated at 1030kg so theoretically 4120kg for a four wheel van.

Another vote for a extremely professional team in Van Weight Engineering. I did pontificate as to what my van could be up plate to without doing anything and Dee confirmed it was what the Fiat plate indicated 1850 front 2000 rear with a max of 3650 but Chausson plated at 1850 F and 2000 R 3500 max. After I fitted rear semi air I now have 1850 front and 2500 rear with a max of 4350. Tyre size 225/75/r16. If your thinking going down this route VWE are very competitive and answered all my questions within 24 hrs, Dee completed the paperwork and returned it to me on a Saturday, having only sent it to VWE that morning. Now, it's only taken the DVLA 3 months and 2 V5c's to get it right but it's still not correct. Going for round three maybe I'll win and the DVLA will be on the ropes

Fantastic service from Dee @ VWE.
The process is made really simple by Dee... a short form to fill in about the existing setup and a few photos from around the van.
We have gone from 5300kg to 5700kg with no changes to the van.
Paperwork returned by Dee within 48 hours.
I have sent the paperwork to DVLA today.

The cost of the work by Dee was £160 - great value and so simple.

DavidG58 David with your full air suspension I expect you could go to over 600kg with your current setup.

I sent my V5c off on 6th August. Still waiting….

I sent the DVLA a third email on the 25 Sept and this time included a copy of the vehicle COC. Which was the same certificate that the dealer sent them for initial registration. Hopefully it will be third time lucky, but I'm sure I'll see many full moons and sunrises before a successful outcome is achieved. Received no communication from them to date. Chocolate fireguard and teapot springs to mind regarding fit for purpose.
