Van Theft. Don't let this happen to you! A few simple precautions and you keep your van!

Keys in the house but not in open view, she’s a baby until he tells her who she needs to go for, and no he doesn’t accept bribes !

My brother has a removable steering wheel which he puts in a secret place. So secret even he has forgot where he put it and travelled back and to from storage searching for it!
That reminds me that I still have a set of keys for a Honda fire blade hidden in my garage by me, which I sold 4 years ago and I still cannot find them.

I was OK with this sort of security, but when I had to get serious security fir some high value kit I was told to make sure the guard dogs were bitches. The scrotes know the best way to distract a male guard dog is a bitch in heat. Works faster than steak laced with vallium.

Forgot to add the full alarm system: Vanbitz Growler with MetaTrak and Non starter.
That is what I have. Gives me a lot of confidence

So, does the big bully send the wee furry one out to sort them out!;):giggle:

If someone breaks into my house while I am in bed, there is no way that I want them hunting for my keys. My life is worth far more than my van so the keys are kept in plain view.
Yep, this ☝️☝️☝️☝️
A previous boss of mine once woke up to discover someone in his room, rummaging for the keys of his Mercedes. A scuffle ensued which resulted in him ending up in hospital - luckily with only minor injuries: scrapes and bruises. He held onto his keys and made enough noise that the thief decided to scarper. He was lucky, he kept his car. But it involved pain, fright, and time at the police station while they scraped under his nails for DNA.

As Googlebot says:
When you are asleep and three of them come in with bladed weapons then use them freely, it doesn’t matter if you are Chuck Norris.
I don’t mean this to be negative or dismissive, I feel exactly the same, but having seen the results, I would just hand my keys over.....

John (aforementioned boss) was startled out of sleep. He jumped out of bed and had the disadvantage of surprise, plus bed clothes etc tangled up. He was lucky things didn't end worse.

My keys aren't kept in my bedroom. But neither are they anywhere near any doors or windows, and my vehicles keys can't be 'scanned'.

Security has been on my mind in the last 24 hours as I discovered signs that someone has been poking about my van in a spot on my drive where no-one has any need whatsoever to be. Happily my car is parked across the front of the van, with an earth/rubble bank behind it, a fence to one side and a wall to the other. But I'm looking at additional security anyway.

I have often wondered if a crate of C4 in the garage linked to a fishing line and a Hand Grenade pin would be legal ??? 💥💥:giggler::giggler::getmecoat:
no but a great idea

When I lived in Kenya, a farmer friend kept having the windscreen wipers stolen off his car, so he wired them to the 240 volts supply. He didn't lose any more wipers!

Unfortunately, if they’re intent on breaking into your house to get the keys, they’re intent on stealing your van.
Taking your keys to bed isn’t a good idea.
We’ve recently had a local family’s house broken into by 4 masked men with baseball bats and knives threatening the occupants fir their car keys. This was during the evening with the lady in the bath. They don’t care and intimidation is everything.
You may be a fighting warrior but what can you do if they’re threatening your family inside your house and they’re in numbers?
Just hand over the keys.
The family are having to move house as she no longer feels safe living there.
The poor owners of this camper van nicked may have been security conscious and done everything they thought correct.
Is your pride and joy worth being severely beaten up or worse for? No it isn’t if you’re insured.
