Valeting

Funny we are all basically the same, we want to earn lots but pay people doing work for us a lot less.
That maybe so, but I do recall years ago having a bill for around 100 quid for a two hour service on my Mini which I calculated as being three day's wages for me.

It’s not changed, it’s much the same today for me

Wouldn't trust mine to anyone, besides I enjoy doing it and it keeps you close and personal to every mark and enables you to pre-empt a possible fault. We have just finished polishing ours can be done in a day but we spread it over 3 mornings. Its always kept clean but then we have the advantage of keeping it in a hutch. Once I stopped working we always did our boat, then the RV and now the Morelo. If you are not in a rush and who is at the moment its a great job, very fulfilling.
Totally agree, i love doing ours, it does take a while but well worth it if you have all the gear,,,,back to the OP, I don’t think 150 is bad considering the work involved,,if its done properly,,

I am happy to pay someone to do something that
I am not good at or qualified to do
or
don't want to

as long as they do what a professional should be doing , or can do it better than me

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that can earn a very comfortable living from doing a very poor job once and do not rely on repeat business.

I have been paying my window cleaner more than his rates for a number of years however he has now become unreliable and the last twice I have had to clean the windows again after him. complacent expecting me to pay every time no questions

Time to change

Mine done last week, £120 and looks awesome after gathering green shimmer from trees and being stood. That was inside (clean in there anyway) and carpets wet shampoo

If you are having something done that you can’t, or don’t want to do yourself, the for the effort and time involved, I would say that £150 was certainly a fair price. I’m not a fan of polishing, and I certainly wouldn’t do the roof, so we went for the full correction and 5 year ceramic coating. This detailer has a workshop big enough to take the ‘van inside.

Looks excellent, the roof demonstrates attention even where you cannot see it. Did you investigate the lifespan of the coating and what is involved in dealing with, damaged, worn or otherwise areas?

His attention to detail was brilliant. (He had still to finish the roof edges when the photo was taken) Full decontamination wash, then dual stage machine polish, finally protected by Angelwax Genesis 5 year ceramic coating. Inside was steam cleaned. We are staying at Carnon Downs in September, you can see it if you wish!

How do they do their costings ? Per metre?

Ours was the first motorhome that he had done, so he now has the experience to work on a base cost (say cost for 6 metre ‘van), plus a cost per metre over.

This marvellous work was performed by Kaizen Detailing near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

Probably a good time to start a business like that as there will be loads of motorhomes and caravan with Black streaks etc coming out of lock down where they have not been used.

Bit tooooo far for me,

Indeed, although it’s not a new business, but our ‘van was his first. He had done caravans before, but nothing at 8.8 metres.

Fun member down south (sorry can't remember his name) did the RV over two days, £500 I think.
Hi just had my Burstner ceramic polished ready for the much anticipated off to the first camp site. The 3 part polish to the whole van including the roof. It looks fantastis without the bird droppings and general muck. This was done by Stuart Theyid Madden at his workshop near Clacton. It looks fantastic. Check him out on Facebook.

I want to valet my MH but a normal ladder doesn't allow me to reach all over the roof and a step ladder is not tall enough. What do other Funsters use?

If we are here that would be great by then 6 months in and a big trek down here. We are, in theory of course, on the BF Plymouth Santander late August so it all depends, although our second jabs complete in April its not much fun being invincible in the land of the living dead, so we may remain in the UK!

I use a good stepladder, and an extending brush,,it’s done the job but a shoulder killer,,

That’s where I’m at.
but I get a good view of the roof from our home’s landing & I know I need to get some chemicals on the MH roof with some more elbow grease.
Valet looks a handy alternative 👍🏻🤪

edit. Pic added.

So would i if mine was like that!!

Mine doesn’t look too bad but grotty under solar and around vents etc so I have ordered a couple of different brushes in addition to car wash brush so I can work on ladder from both sides to reach all.

I use a diluted TFR on the roof and it comes up mint every time
