I've just arrived home via a very amenable caravan repair place just north of Shepton. They've managed to fix my habitation door by removing and cleaning out the hinges and it's no longer putting a strain on the frame. The guy worked for just over an hour on this and only charged me £32!! :thumb:

Thankyou Roger and Sue for a very well organised and enjoyable meet.

Thanks to Roger and Sue from me too. Thanks to all the wonderful people there who made it a brilliantly friendly weekend and it was lovely to meet up with old friends too... Also, I am no longer the only vegetarian on the block...

well done everyone

just arrived home after battling with an errant lock on the escort that kept me locked out for a while.
Despite the weather forcast it stayed mainly dry and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Many thanks to Slobadobabob for suggesting the free raffle and for the prizes he kindly donated, Thanks also to everyone else who donated prizes and of Course to the ladies (PeterH is an honerary lady for this one, hee hee) for their excellent cakes. The karaoke, provided by Gary will keep people talking for years to come and Stuart with his uke proved popular as well.
Many thanks to all of the funsters who braved a bad forcast to attend and also thanks to all of the funsters who have attended Shepton/Carmarthen in previous years. I regret it was my last year as marshal for many varied reasons but you can't get rid of me that easy I hope to be attending some other shows for a change next year.

Thank you Roger and Sue for a good weekend, got back safely late afternoon yeterday.........Del

Thanks Roger and Sue for all your efforts rough weather but great weekend - sad to hear you won't be marshalling again but look forward to seeing you around.

It was great to meet other funsters, thank you for making us ( Peter & Jacky & myself) welcome as it was our first time.
Hope to see you again sometime:Smile:

No doubt all the Funsters had a very good time but for the exhibitors it was a very poor show for them.

Van sales were poor and accessories well down. We were Ok but many people wonder if it is worth the effort.

Peter

It was definitely quieter than other Shepton shows I've been to, although two of the group I was with did deals to change vans. I'm sure the weather forecast did a lot to keep away the crowds.

One accessories stall said it cost them £2000 for their pitch - you'd have to sell an awful lot of hard ground tent pegs at 50p each to cover that, and make any money.

I think there are just too many shows now, and they're too expensive to do for a lot of people.

There were a lot of nice new Auto Trail vans hanging around. I love the 2011 upholstery and woodwork.

We were sorely tempted by a second hand Hobby 750 tag (in fact, there were two), but they didn't quite tick enough boxes for us. This was after sitting in a 750 in our group (sold to a lovely irish couple by someone called Johns Cross? )

We thought there were far fewer exhibitors than when we were last there, two years ago, and did wonder how much a pitch cost - now we know!

It's not just motorhome shows either; this year we went the Bristol hi-fi show for the first time in a few years, and it was a bit sobering to see just how many manufacturers had stayed away.
