Hi,

Mental last minute request please!!!

Someone has just accepted my offer of 9000 euros for this - but I can't get through on the number he has listed on his ad. He say's he will accept my offer to collect but I need to pay cash only.

Broken Link Removed

The number listed keeps coming up with "not recognised" even though I am dialling 003113..........then the number......

As I am trying to communicate via google translate it's a bit difficult.

I will need to take my daughter, the dog, and get the train down to Harwich and then across to Holland, if we leave tomorrow morning with overnight sailing we could be there Thursday to collect.

Anyone got any thoughts, as I don't want to go through all that if it's a scam, but to me, it looks a decent price and worth the effort involved.

Thanks you guys!

(Okay he's sent me the correct number now, but I still need a dutch speaker to phone him for me please?)

Well it seems there might be more to this story after all.

Actually the "friend" I stayed with in London, I went on a date with a few weeks ago, in true Pinkie style, he got an emergency text from me requesting that I stay on his drive............don't worry, he already thinks I'm mad!

Knock down his brick pillar, dog terrorises his cat, and he has to feed Poppy who he said was starving, (but Poppy was disappointed he'd covered his outdoor pool last weekend).

It seems he may be joining us in Italy, (he's taken a day off, well he is the boss, and is frantically searching for his passport as I write).

I'm not saying anymore about it, except he is the funniest person I have ever met and we just laughed all the way through our first date and our second 'invite myself to your drive'.

And no, there won't be a book! :thumb:

I've been away from the computer for just 24 hrs, and missed 5 x pages of posts. :Rofl1:

Pinkie, glad it all worked out for you in the end. :thumb: Good advice above re covering up the gash until you can get it sorted, preventing water ingress, which leads to dampness, and even more costly repairs.

BTW, did you get the heating sorted? If not, the offer of help is still open, and Rita and I will be on that number we gave you, all weekend.

This guy you met, must be a wee bit special himself, ie, I don't know if I'd be laughing about someone inviting themselves to stay on the driveway, who then knocked my wall down upon arrival. :Rofl1:

Have a good time in Italy. :thumb:

Cheers for now,

Jock.

ha ha - yes no heating at the mo in the van but actually it wasn't cold, it was only on the really rainy days it could have done with it. As we are not planning on going anywhere in it for a while, will give you a call after we return from Italy if that's okay, as I have to sort the house out and pack before leaving Monday evening.

Yes, very special, but can't find his passport!!!

Photo's

Okay, been out in the POURING rain to take some photo's for you guys that have been extremely patient and want evidence said van exists!!!!! :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

As I have no intention of going out and trying to clean it in this weather, it's not looking too tidy after a few days of us in it, but you get the idea, I think it's in good condition, although perhaps looking to "pimp my ride" in Morocco!

First thing is first, I have to fill out the following:

HM Revenue & Customs - Form NOVA 1, which I shall send off before leaving the country again (Notification of vehicle arrivals)

Then (on my return to UK in a week)..........

(change speedo, fog light etc..........and MOT) and fill in.........

VCA - Application for Commission Notice/Mutual Recognition - Motorhomes

Then finally DVLA Form V55/5 - Application for a first tax disc and registration of a USED motor vehicle.

Not too difficult, but probably will take a few weeks to sort these steps out. :thumb:

Snowbird, you are welcome to the sexy washing up bowl, I can post it to you, it's full of washing up by the way!

If you dont mind I will pass on the dishes . By the way, I have never had to change a speedo from KMs to Mph. Try it first and if you get a knock back then just put an MPH sticker over it. Keep it simple girl :thumb:

My speedo is also Km's and my light have deflectors on them. Didn't have a problem with MOT and don't expect to have one this year either!

Nice van - I'm envious of your front seats! I want some like that!

Love the pics. Lovely van, really lovely.

A dream doesn't become reality through magic .......it takes sweat, determination and hard work!

Well done:thumb:

oooohhhhhh, thanks guys.

Yes, love the front seats - they are SO comfy, even got my aunt to try them out and she agreed, feels like total luxury and the armrests lift up so you can have armchair style or normal.

Regarding the VCA - as I was reading up yesterday, and thought I had to do this, it seems as I don't have a certificate of conformity, due to the age of the vehicle, I don't need to do this, so that seems to make it simpler, although up against time due to our week away now.

Still, all good, thanks for the encouragement, apart from the "whacking the side of the van", I am SO pleased with it.

To anyone who thinks that it was as cheap as it seems, it wasn't, given the expenditure on batteries, ferries, fuel and hotel and food, it did add up to be honest, but compared to one for £15,995, I am seriously quids in!

When I mentioned to my lovely daughter that we could pimp our ride in Morocco and make a bit of profit on it so we could go back and buy another.............I was met with serious resistance!

We love it! :thumb:

Wow pinkie.
I've just spent an age reading the whole of this thread.
Crap night on TV and were not away this weekend
left the help needed can anyone speak Dutch thread till last , as I thought nope I can't , and it will be something boring like where can I park for free .....what does this say on a sign:Smile:
How wrong was I.
I've read it all the way through and :Eek!:wow :thumb:you've got guts girl.

I thought I was a head strong woman but I wouldn't have dared do what you've just done , by myself. Let alone with a kiddy and dog. Good on you. I'm glad it's all worked out well for you and wish you many happy travels with your family in your new motorhome. Thanks for a riveting read:thumb:

Same here Pinkie, ie, speedo in Kms. No problems with MOT, as it doesn't form part of the test.

For round figures........(and if not used to Kms),

30mph = 50kph (red mark it on the speedo lens)
40mph = 60kph
50mph = 80kph (red mark it too)
60mph = 100kph
70mph = 110kph (red mark it too)

Those are the three most important speeds to be aware of, on your speedo. :thumb:

Cheers for now,

Jock.

Daisy Mae,

I have no idea of anything about you, except you are older than me, but IT IS YOU who is the inspiration!

Regardless of age, (whatever that may be) you got a spurt on and did it yourself, despite reservations, or lack of confidence.............you showed everyone you were a force to be reckoned with..........

You just rock!!!!

I think it doesn't matter our age, or anything about us, just don't listen to the naysayers, yes, ask advice, but don't listen to negativity.

EVERYONE is capable of anything they want to do, just work out your plan, don't listen to people who know jackshit about jackshit, follow your plan and goal and just do it.

Things may not be as straightforward as you would hope, or they may be easier, but just do it, it's the only way to live your life/move forward/go on living in a positive way.

Only your brain/or other peoples comments stop you.............

Never let that happen.

Daisy May - you totally ROCK! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Okay, I DO suffer from depression, so love that post...............my feeling is anything that bigs someone up enough to enable them to DO IT! is enough.

People need a boost not a knock back - and as this thread has proved.............there are so many of you that are encouraging - bless your hearts! Whatever comes from that, we are all doing whatever in your favour, with your support and your encouragement!

loving you peeps!

aw shucks...........not doing anything really, but thank you!

Certainly the nicest forum and kindest people on a forum I have ever come across, but think generally, that's what happens when you travel, you meet nice people. Sometimes when you stay too long in a place you lose sight of that and become a bit wary of doing anything.

And whatever way we do it, we all want to travel!

Exactly Pinkie.
We've know several couples over the years who are, (or have been) "Narrow Boaters", (never call it a barge in their company. :Eek!:), and they all say the same, ie, that everyone on the river, (and on the forums) is very friendly and helpful. :thumb:

Often they tried to encourage Rita and I to sell the Caravan/Motorhome, and take up boating. :Eek!: As much as we love to spend a day on the river, giving it "putt putt putt putt putt putt", with a can of beer in one hand, and the tiller in the other, :thumb: the time it takes to do 20 miles by river, (through the locks) is the same time that we would take to travel from the Lincs/Cambs border, to either......The Highlands.....or Germany. It's "no contest" for us.

Cheers for now,

Jock & Rita.
