We bought a Primus Moja portable burner so we can cook at the table. It’s rated at 3kw and the difference to the 1.9kw CAN burner inside the van is night and day. We only use gas for cooking and water so there’s not much reason to skimp.

Anyone know if there’s an aftermarket upgrade for built in hobs? Or done a similar swap? Googling implies not :-(

Have you converted it to LPG or using the throw away disposable gas canisters

you could go old school with paraffin. We always carry a Alpkit(jetboil) stove in van it's very efficient and small to store.

RM_Marine The Primus uses the propane/butane canisters. We have gaslow in the van. I think we prefer the ability to use it away from the van if needed.

Outdoors Dad we could easily use the Primus inside too but it feels like a waste of space.

Getting a 3kw burner in the built in hob is my goal

Are the standard burners 1.5kw....I seem to have a vague recollection of that number
If you have a 3kw burner, how does that impact the surrounding furniture...will a 3kw burner create enough heat to scorch anything above or around it
