Upgrading Inverter...Is it Possible?

If... I had the money available during our build, I'd have gone this way, maybe. The advantages are awesome 👌

But it's also a "BIG" unit.

Cheers

And weighs 18kg, I was going to use separate components but they would have only been £150 less and wouldn't have the sync with the mains option.

I think the roamin radfords on you tube (yes I know) have 960ah lithium and around 1200w of solar and say thy can run theirs all night!! Yes it’s gonna cost you💰💰💰
Only costs you if you pay for it, plus they had a free install.

Quick update…

First things first, many thanks to all of you for your replies. I really appreciate the time you have taken👍🏻

Following much communication with AshVanBitz we are booked to go down to Cornish Farm for a major power upgrade in October⚡

WESTY66 you are correct it is going to cost ££££ but we believe it is worth for us and our future travel plans.

Good news is we are getting 3 complimentary nights at Cornish Farm👏🏻

I’ll report back once the work is completed to explain what has been fitted😀

We have 700 watts of solar a Victron 12/2000/80
Inverter charger and 2 x 100 amp Transporter Lithium batteries. We can run our Dometic Freshjet 2200 for several hours if the sun is shining the trick is not to try to turn the van into a fridge. Also when on low amp hookup the inverter makes up for any shortfall just set the mains input to the available mains supply and the inverter does the rest. Obviously dependant on battery state of charge.

Fellow Funsters,

I thought I would update you as to what we have done since posting this thread...

As advised by eddievanbitz we got intouch with AshVanBitz to discuss our requirements. After numerous messages and back and forth we agreed upon the following;

x4 230ah Roamer Batteries. I choose these as they come with a 10 year warranty and they would fit in one of our underfloor compartments with relative ease.

Victron Multiplus II Charger Inverter which was fitted where the HYMER batteries were previously installed

Sterling B2B Charger, Battery Master and a few other bits and bobs

We also agreed that VanBitz would fit the maximum amount of solar to complement the 190W fitted by HYMER. When they looked at the roof they could get one of their 100W panels on and realised that they needed to get a slimmer 115W flexible panel from a local supplier that they don't stock which was promptly purchased on our behalf so we now have a total of 405W of solar along with associated regulators etc. which we can monitor via the Victron Connect app.

The whole installation did cost a relatively large amount but I suppose its like anything in that we see the value of now having 920AH of battery power and 405W of solar to top it up so we can run all our devices when not using EHU without worrying about it. Normally Mrs CTJ doesn't want to know what I spend but if she asks of course I tell her. She was quite surprised when I told her the amount that it wasn't more😀

All in all we are both delighted with the work done by AshVanBitz and the team at VanBitz. The Installation was done to a very high level and our vehicle was treated with respect.

This is the 2nd time the team there has done work for us following the installation of the alarm, tracker and non-starter when we first got the van in September 2021 and I am happy to recommend them to anyone considering using them. Added to this we had 3 nights at Cornish Farm which is a great little site just outside Taunton and 'The Ring of Bells' pub is dog friendly and does great food and beer🤣

Can I thank again all the members of the forum for their replies and advice on helping us achieve our objective. Joining MHF has proved to be one of the best decisions we made since deciding we were going to purchase a Motorhome👍🏻

That’s great to hear, I wouldn’t have expected anything less from vanbitz, all the work I’ve seen done by them is usually very neat and tidy, and usually works from the get go!👍
We had fish and chips at the ring o bells, was blooming lovely👍
I really should start saving up for another visit now Mrs Westy has put the kahbosh on changing to a smaller van🤷‍♂️🙄😁

We are so pleased that you are happy with everything and as always it was great to see you both. It took time to get everything in but the end result was definitely worth it and speaks for itself. It’s a credit to Dave’s workmanship as he always finds a way of making this type of installation look factory fitted. I was extremely proud of what he achieved and knowing that you are just a happy just excites me. Being in business for over 30 years and still consistently producing the same high standards just shows that my guys care about what they are doing (and also the vehicles that they are working on).
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to help you will this fantastic upgrade and I look forward to seeing you and Mrs CTJ again soon.
Kindest regards
Ash
