On our way to Calais in a couple of days for ferry home how is calais and is Gravelines affected. THANKS

According to the news reports this lunchtime, the worst affected areas are around Boulogne, and the the inland areas between there and, I think, St Omer. There was no mention of Calais nor Gravelines. I recall the valley of the river Aa mentioned, but cannot recall the names of the other two rivers in the area which were given. They were both to the south of Calais.

smiffy reported a few days ago about floods, he may have info depending on his whereabouts ?

Do you mean me….😆

from mont st-Micheal down there were some small rivers that had burst banks and some small floods around, it’s going to rain a fair bit in the next week so it may get worse so be prepared for diversion…

See link in French but Google will translate there is a link in the report which will open to a government site with map and details.
Floods
It shows serious problems for the area in question.

Well that changes quickly just checked the interactive map and doesn't seem so serious now.

I drove from near Dieppe to the Auchan in Coquelles, along the A16, and then along the A16 to Calais port today. No problems on the A16, but could see areas of flooded ground from the motorway. Another motorhomer I spoke to said he had problems on the A16, part of it shut, but I don't know where exactly.

Had several French emergency flood warnings on my phone as I drove along. I use the phone as a secondary satnav so it's mounted where I can see it.

We were going to stay at the Aire in mansle on the Charente last night but it was under water. Stayed instead at verteuil sur charente all services taped off as nowhere for the water to drain. Aire only about three feet above level of river so an unsettled night but fortunately not much rain and the river didn't rise much. Because of the weather we had no signal so couldn't reply earlier.

Yes it's not good that's why we are moving on a bit earlier even now at aire outside Calais it's lashing down in the last 11 weeks we've gone from 37 degrees down to drowning but you can't have it good always so we are happy

Further info from thos evening's news broadcast mentioned the three rivers which have flooded their surrounding villages and towns. They are the l'Aa, la Liane and la Canche. Parts of Boulogne-Sur-Mer are affected and, further inland including Hésdigneuil. Montreuil, on the river Canche, is seriously flooded. This river meets the sea at le Touquet.

If I see any further useful information then I will post it on this thread.

We parked at Bergues on Friday night having driven from Luxembourg in the torrential rail. Nice and safe on the Aire as its tarmac. Easy drive to the ferry on Saturday, no flooding en route. I think the worst of it is to the West and South West from the signs.

I have no idea, there were no council men to ask and it’s the first time we have stayed there. It was a pity the weather was so awful as it looked very pretty.
I expect you were in the area outside of the Aire.

The marked area is the Aire.

That’s where we were. I can read signs and map coordinates. Perhaps we aren’t as fussy as you lot. It felt rock solid and after 5 hours of driving in torrential rain and strong winds it looked like tarmac in amongst the enormous puddles but I’m not going to stake my life on it Lenny! It was barely light when we left to catch the early ferry home.

There were about 10 other vans there as well.
