The French aire operators, Camping-Car Parks have had an app available for a while but it was a pretty clunky thing. They have now updated it and first impressions are it is a big improvement. If you search in the Play Store on Android for "Camping-car Park" it is the dark blue one shown in this screenshot.

There is I assume an iOS version in the Apple play store. If you already have the earlier version the button will say update instead of install.

On opening it, the link to "Areas" takes you to a map where you can see the aires and clicking on one will show how many places are available. It seems much more responsive than the earlier version.

There are of course plenty of other aires in France and some of them free but the CCP Aires can be useful at times, in our experience.

All done now, but very frustrating.
Has anyone bought a card yet?'
I see we are being offered Pack Privilages @29 Euros, for all singing and dancing valid for life, pre booking, memorises all the places you have stayed at etc
OR
Pass Etapes @5 Euros which is we think is the price of the card, you then load the card with dosh before using it, access 24/7, access to 200 plus areas.

Er, no - the Pack‘Privileges is €29 a year, not for life. We’ve not bothered with it - generally go off season, so you can usually get on without booking. I guess it could be useful on some of the busy or small CCPs, but not convinced at that price. You can see how many spaces are free in advance on the app. The new app seems to memorise where you’ve stayed previously, without the Pack’Privileges.

We rarely load the Pass’Etapes in advance - the machines are mainly set up to load the correct cost for the specific CCP. We did have a problem at one where the machine was out of order, but even then you just ring up and load your card by phone - as DBK says, the helpline is good, and they speak good English.

Solwaybuggier just been in and re-checked the accounts offerings, as you say the dearer one Pack Privilage is NOT valid for life, however the Cheaper on Pass Etapes @5 eu Plus "shipment costs" is valid for life as thats the fist thing it states, along with rechargeable at any point using the website. Very strange eh?

I know, I know, it goes against the grain of all us FLT's, they are expensive in comparison to many, as there are still plenty of free aires, & wild spots.
I guess many more aires will succumb to being sold/placed under CCP management in the future, Takes the burden away from the local town to service them, and can incentivise us by allowing us to book a pitch and maybe know standards are consistent.

Is that recent?
I've never been aware of it but we rarely stay anywhere more than 2 or 3 nights.
I think it came in last year, I don't remember seeing it before then.

Out of interest, I’ve just been on their website - on there, the Pass’Etapes shows as €4 sometimes, and €5 others! The app shows it as €5 consistently. Similarly, the Pack’Privileges shows as €24 a year on the site, €29 on the app. They’ve obviously put the prices up, their choice, but ought to be checking the website - which also, on the English version, is mainly in English but some sections are in French. Unfortunately, though, even if you click through to buy the Pack’Privileges on the site it still charges €29!

I'm one of those who think they are good value for money, we've had a few, ex munincipal I presume, with free hot showers. EHU when available and wifi a bonus, although we do need our wifi booster usually. I'm one of the lucky ones that managed to stay on the now defunct Libertie option, no top ups, just swipe in and out and get a detailed invoice at the end of the month with payment taken by DDebit.

I'm guessing the 29 euros is made up of 24 euros for the pack (per year) plus 5 for the card, which you only pay once.

Got it a few weeks ago and, yes, much better than the clunky earlier offering.
Mine works well but 'clicking' on a site marker on the map is very unresponsive with many touches before it works.
No problems with other apps.

Camping-Car Park are considering opening in the UK according to an email I've received from them.
Could be interesting, just got the email, but what they say is they been solicited about opening them in the UK. They say they are going to open them abroad but no mention of any countries.

The email certainly seems to imply that they intend to open aires in the united kingdom? and given the explosion of new motor-homers it would seem to be financially a winner over here.
Dear English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh friends,

You are many to solicit us lately asking us if we can extend our CAMPING-CAR PARK network in the United Kingdom. Today we are happy to announce that CAMPING-CAR PARK will be opening new aires for motorhomes abroad soon.

In order to help us in this process we would like to know a little more about your habits. We are submitting you with a few questions. This won’t take very long and it will be of great help to us.

Thank you for your participation.
The CAMPING-CAR PARK team.
