Roadside checks (certainly in UK, and I expect elsewhere) will look at the vehicle plate to see what the axle and gross weights are. As the gross weight is not changing, then I would do what you are proposing. just stick the new SV Tech plate on and enjoy the knowledge that you have protected yourself against overloading the rear axle.I've had another thought over the weekend and wondered what you think:
I should have the new weight plates and paperwork from SVtech in plenty of time for our trip, but almost certainly not from DVLA...now as I'm only changing the rear axel limit and the gross overall weight is remaining as it is at 3850 I'm thinking of not sending the V5c off before I go as the V5 doesn't show the axel weights and I'll have the new plates on the vehicle.....what's thoughts on this idea? I've seen 2 YouTubers that have been pulled and weighed in the last month and they seem to only refer to V5 and plate, can't imagine they'd be querying the DVLA database, plus I'll have the SV docs to back up.
