Understanding Millenials - the Snowflake generation

but is the "snowflake generation" somehow different to the older generations on here

When it comes to the need to communicate with fellow humans, no difference I'd say. But for different reasons. The youngsters are not interacting with youngsters that they are in contact with. The Olde Fartes don't get out to like they used to.

The rest of the video, expectations, work ethics, attention span seems spot on.

A good speech...I may listen again and count the number of times he said ‘Right’....which was annoying! I certainly think instant gratification and impatience are part of the problem....but life is a learning curve and these people will learn and grow and will teach their kids differently.

I thought I posted it!!!
Yes you did! It's just me! I was never a 'Snowflake', but I think my brain has melted.o_O
I thought the clip was brilliant. I hadn't thought about things in those terms before - and I hate the use of the term 'Snowflake' - or labels of any kind, for that matter.
It seems to me that there is a real generational divide these days - and that can't be good for any of us. The film has made me think, and I wouldn't have seen it, if you hadn't posted it - so 'Thank You'.

Where I am and what is happening to me is always as a result of someone else or something that happened out of my control. That's life, but blaming others, blaming the past, changes nothing. I am what I am, I am where, I am and if I want things to change in my life I have to change them. So to help I will seek all the advice, help, guidance and encouragement I can but the decision to be different can only happen when I do things differently.

Very entertaining and raises several important points. Hate it when people talk about raised or reduced levels of neurotransmitters in the brain such as Dopamine and Serotonin. Drug companies selling antidepressants have been kidding us for years. There is no evidence for trying to correct any imbalances because there is no proof of any changes occurring in the brain. Also I wondered how much of what he says can be applied to other generations. I see older people addicted to phones and social media and often wonder if my facebook page showing my wonderful trips around the world disguises the fact that life can't be that great. We are all subjected to the ills of life. Having a motorhome and time to travel doesn't protect us from illness, loneliness, bereavement etc etc. Having said that as an ex University Lecturer I did come across a lot of kids who thought they didn't have to 'earn it'.

All my Grand children are Mills....or snowflakes. I see some of the traits in them...binge watching box sets, phone addiction etc, but they have friends that have stuck by them through thick and thin, they have worked in mundane jobs to earn a wage, they are growing and changing. I don’t think they feel ‘entitled’. So I’m not 100% certain that they really exist as portrayed in the video. Certainly the ones I know and meet are not like that!
