uncomplicated Internal security recomendations for main entrance door whilst sleeping in van

But some of the personal rape/attack alarms, fix loop through handle and secure alarm to something, door opens and pulls cord and sets off alarm.
Also depending on type of had door you have, buy one of the extending pole and put through handle and tighten against edges will stop door being opened.

Correct and we will be having deadlocks fitted to cab doors

If you have decided to fit deadlocks already ..spend a few quid more and go for the Hook Locks, exactly the same outside visual deterrent but the locking mechanism hooks into the hasp; preventing a big crowbar from deforming the door and body work to allowing space for the ordinary dead lock to be bypassed.

When did Mrs Emmit tell you I snored!

And, whilst I think about it, what were the circumstances when she told you our innermost intimate secrets???
That's for you to speculate Derek.......😉

Yamas🍻

But surely if they think the van is unoccupied there is a higher chance of them braking in.

Sometimes when we go out in the evening I leave the lights on so the van looks occupied.
Yeah but your always on hook up so you won't flatten your battery us proper FLT aren't 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Although i can see the advantages of a sofisticated all singing and dancing alarm system for many reasons its not what we want
I am looking for a simple uncomplicated type of alarm because i cant see a way of fitting internal hook bolts to the inside of our habitation door that would be effective. I am very competant at engineering things but unfortunatly with all the plastic and fly screen makes it unpracticle
So any advice gratefully recieved
You did say “simple uncomplicated” this what we use (see attached photo) length of 2” x 1” planned and sanded to prevent splinters. Nice tight fit, takes a few seconds just before jumping into bed. Depending where we are we supplement this with a strap and ratchet across the cab doors.

Back around 2017 when we were first considering swapping from caravan to MoHo, as part of the due diligence/ research we found ourselves reading so many of stories of MoHo break-ins with occupants sleeping inside and garage doors being forced open and contents stolen, being a bit naive, as soon as we decided to purchase our first MoHo was to fit additional locks to the garage doors, even went to the expense of having them professionally sprayed silver to match the rest of the vehicle. Never had any issues in the 3 years we had it. When we brought the next and current MoHo I removed from the old Mo with the intention of fitting to the new one, but never got around to it. They’re gathering dust (see photos) along with all the other stuff/tat we brought at the start of our MoHo journey only to find we never use it. Bit like all the stuff we used to pile (and I mean pile) into the garage when going away for more than a few days, only to unpack when home never having seen the light of day.
I expect I’m not the only one,

personal alarm cable would work

In the 40yrs we have been motorhoming we have touch wood never had a problem with the exception that one night we parked down a road at a marina at night not realising youths congregated there in the early hours and they found it funny to bang on the van and i think try to take a bike. I always leave my trousers and shoes with the van keys on top so simply started the van and moved on . That was 20yrs ago.

But the world has changed and getting older i think i am more cautious

It would be ideal to have something like yours but its not posible

Problem is that...do you leave the van unlocked but alarmed so avoiding damage but possible confrontation or lock up securely and risk crowbar to the hab door?
I have a visible deadlock on hab door, straps between cab doors and fake flashing led on dashboard....

Simple eh?
How about a bell (cow, cat, Christmas etc) hanging on the door handle.
On opening the door said bell will either fall off of hit the door frame as the door is opened.

Doesn't get any simpler
I just leave my Rigger boots and big flourescent jacket on the passenger seat!

Do yer feel lucky? 😄

Now I know the led is fake🤫

I think this is on topic. It’s right by the main entrance door while I’m sleeping.
