Although i can see the advantages of a sofisticated all singing and dancing alarm system for many reasons its not what we want
I am looking for a simple uncomplicated type of alarm because i cant see a way of fitting internal hook bolts to the inside of our habitation door that would be effective. I am very competant at engineering things but unfortunatly with all the plastic and fly screen makes it unpracticle
So any advice gratefully recieved

Big slide bolt into the floor on the back door and a personal alarm that goes off when the alarm is clipped to the overcab shelf and the pin is secured to the the sliding door so that it pulls the pin when opened.

What you do to the cab doors is up to you! 🤔

Fly screen doesn't affect fitting security locks, don't see the problem.

The first accessory I bought to fit on the habitation door of our van (Pilote Explorateur A class with one exiting door) was this;

The beauty of this product is more than merely security.
No.1 The lock can be applied when leaving the van.
No 2 The lock can be applied when one is INSIDE the van, (say, on an evening or overnight)
Additionally, this lock can alter the perception of those seeing the device.
Please let me explain.
If one is FLTing in a place where vans might be able to be parked but not an official parking place we can leave the blinds open and go to bed in the back.
To the observer, the van is "parked" and unoccupied. There is no indication we are inside.

But surely if they think the van is unoccupied there is a higher chance of them braking in.

Sometimes when we go out in the evening I leave the lights on so the van looks occupied.

We were advised not to use these as if someone is going to break in they just crowbar it off to get to the lock and it causes loads of damage to the main body of the motorhome rather than just the door. Makes some sense to me

The reasoning makes sense ,These were already fitted to the van but it is a visual deterant but take your point

Its what we do also. My main problem or worry
Battery powered window alarms. Simple noisy solution if someone opens a door.
looking for recommendations of these

One train of thought whilst reading previous comments logically when we go out we should not put the fiamma locks in the locked position to avoid damage and it makes it look like we have left someone in the van
I had also thought whilst we were sleeping to lock all the fiamma locks and go in via the drivers door but then in an emergency would we forget the main exit is blocked
Maybe I’m over thinking

I know someone who was broken into who had the lock in your photo, £3000 of damage, pulled the fixings through the wall & stole £20 of CD's.

I recently bought the dummy deadlock key gizmo that stick to the side of the doors. To me they look very convincing. Or am I just fooling myself - good way to spend £28 but really only £17as the government takes the tax!

Would this be a helpful gadget for you

A ratchet strap is about as uncomplicated as it comes.

Other than that some kind of bar, used to use a machette in a previous life for exact same reason, guess thats probably not legal for a MH…..

Or a rape alarm, that would scare um off, about a tenner from the south american river….

For my original question then yes the above would do the job

I do have one of these in its box but i cannot fit it as these paneling and fly screen in the way on the inside

I have four simple turnbuckles on the inside of my hab door which would take quite an effort, rock the body and make a fair bit of noise if anyone tried to wrench the door open, but I don't see why there's the warning not to use them when parked off the road.
