Tyrepal lock nuts

Honestly, just screw them on without the locknuts. Chuck the dust cover on them, take caps off tyres, screw them on. It really is that simple.

I am going to add some air to mine tomorrow, if it takes more than 5 minutes I will be surprised.

They saved my bacon last year on the way to France and I picked up a nail.

I hesitated after reading that it could let air out of the tyres
I fitted mine over a year ago and only topped up the pressure for the first time yesterday.
(Hence the problem with removing the locknuts)
Reading the comments above, I will be happy to refit them without the locknuts

No locknuts for years.

Take valves off every 6 months to top up. No issues.
More or less what he said.

I've had the same Tyrepal system for over a decade (swapped from one van to another) and have never used the locknuts. And never had a problem. (y)

I took mine off as they leaked too much, probably due to having rubber valves, they are for sale on the classifieds on here if anybody fancies them.

Not sure if I'm missing something here but the how can the locknuts prevent theft of the sensor? Unless I'm mistaken the rubber "sleeve" goes on the valve stem first, the locknut goes on holding that down and then the sensor screws in and the sleeve just gets pulled up to protect the sensor? Surely the sensor itself can be accessed by peeling back the edge of the sleeve and unscrewing it regardless of the locknut?

I've had typrepal on car and caravan for 8 years. Never used the locking grub screws or nuts and have never had one stolen, or fall off. I have however had one fuse itself to the tyre valve on the alloy wheels, it had to be cut off in the end. So always use white grease when fitting the sensor on, never had a problem since! It is a great product though. Battery stopped working in my head unit and could not be charged, or replaced... So I was able to pick up 2 new heads from private sellers for total of £30 (tyrepal wanted £95 each, so now have 2 systems one for van and one for car... Using the old caravan sensors and the 2 spares I had 😏

When you screw the sensor on you are then supposed to tighten the lock nut up tight against bottom of the sensor.
That makes it very difficult to unscrew the sensor without first loosening the lock nut.

I read that too and then tried it ....... The sensor unscrewed in the middle !!!! Revealing the battery etc ...
